If you want to work for cosmetics retail, such as M.A.C or any other brand, is it worthwhile to introduce yourself and hand in a resume when there are no positions advertised, or should you just apply when there is a vacancy advertised? I'm in Australia.

Its always worth a try - especially if the girls at your counter already know that you buy a lot

I would! I heard about a position in my store by rumor that some people were leaving, they rarely advertise the positions I've noticed. Plus if you make a good impression and come across genuine you might just do yourself the favor of getting in there before they get a chance to advertise! Good luck! I know how exciting the prospect of working for M.A.C is and how hard it is to get it! It took me a good while to get in and luckily everything worked out! I really believe that if you have a passion for make up and the right attitude you will do it!
