Confused Gurl

How do you guys really feel when there's a guy at the makeup counter buying makeup for himself? I've gotten some evil stares and I've gotten support.
It sucks being a guy when you maybe you should have been a girl. If I felt more confident I'd post some pics but I don't have the courage yet.

Honestly, I love it! It shows that the guy isn't afraid to put himself out there, and to show who he really is, and what he really likes.
I grew up with a gay friend. He would tell me he liked girls, but his actions, his moves, his way of speaking, and his hobbies all suggested otherwise. Him and I got along really well, and used to be best friends (we still speak from time to time now, but we live faraway from eachother). Now, it has been a long time since he came out of the closet, and he is nothing but confident. He once showed up at a party wearing some kickass eyeliner, and though alot of people were laughing and staring (yes the guys, the guys) he didn't let anything bother him. He was the life of the party.
I'm very open to guys buying makeup. Why should it bother me, or anyone else for that matter? You are who you are, and if you love makeup, then all the power to you! The best makeup advice, and the best fashion advice that I have ever received has come from males.
Which counter do you shop at? Do you live in an area where people are close to these type of things? If so, then don't be surprised at people looking at you strangely. They aren't used to it, and to have that type of behavior coming from a man is very "abnormal" to them. It is also because of these people that your rights aren't being recognized.
Don't feel bad if you get evil stares. Be confident! The minute someone senses you aren't comfortable, they will have the nerve to talk to you about it, and comment on the makeup you are buying.

I don't look down on ANYBODY who wants to try make-up, male or female.

Completely agree! I've gone make up shopping with a few of my gay and transgendered friends so it certainly doesn't bother me. As long as you enjoy it then no one else has the right to tell you otherwise. And if someone serving you at the counter was giving you evil looks then report them to their manager. And if it's a member of the public then stare back and say, "Yes?". Don't let anyone stop you from being you and buying things that help you express your true self.

I look up to any guy who will go out and buy/wear makeup, because I know that even in this age of "progressive" society it's still so hard to do. Hell, I dunno if I could do it.

I hope you gain the courage to post some pics soon, I'd love to see them!

I wouldn't care at all. Have you seen how many guys work at Mac? Honestly, it's nobody's business but yours, and people need to worry more about themselves, and less about what everyone else chooses to do

I love it. I was at a MAC Moonbathe event at Macy's and there was a male MAC MA artist wearing his Moonbathe "look." He looked fabulous, the colors against his skin was gorgeous. I did notice a couple staring and making comments about him. I felt sad for them to be so closed-minded - had the girl not been so closed-minded he could have taught her a few makeup tips. I personally would love to see your pix.

Hey, more power to you! My two most attractive exes wore makeup and looked fantastic in it. I have nothing against men buying/wearing makeup. Strut up there and buy it proudly. Who cares what they think.

You have to do what makes you happy. If other people can't understand that, try not to let them get to you. I know it's easier said than done, but try to stay strong.

Do what makes you happy. Personally, I have had a lot of male MAC customers...I don't have a problem with them at all (and some are CUUUUUUTE!!!!)

Personally, I wouldn't care either way. I wouldn't be mean or judgmental about you being there, nor would I give you any kind of special treatment for daring to be a dude who wants make-up. You're just a customer like anyone else, and should be treated no better or worse than any girl in the store. Your money's the same, and as far as I'm concerned, you earn it, you have every right to spend it on whatever you want without getting crap for it. Furthermore, if girls can wear make-up, I see no reason why guys can't - frankly, a lot of guys could seriously use it. ;p

And even if I thought make-up was a girl-only thing and looked gross on men, it's just not my problem and it doesn't affect my life whatsoever. Lots of girls wear too much make-up for my taste, or wear a style of make-up I think looks disgusting, or wear what I feel is too much blush, etc. I don't gather torch-carrying mobs to chase THEM away from the counter either.

i dont care...its great!

i doubt the ma's care but i reckon that they dont want to assume its for you and embarass you if its not for you (imagine you were just a metro sexual shopping for your gf?)...

i don't think a man that wants to buy makeup should be treated any different (better or worse) than a woman buying makeup...we're all humans and should be treated equally.

I think its kind of cool and liberated. There are a few young Japanese men in our neighborhood who are straight, have GFs and dye their hair and use makeup-not all the products women tend to use,but they do wear a number of products out the door like eyebrow pencil, eye pencil,a little foundation and bronzer.I saw two big burly guys in Longs discussing concealor early in the morning, too. (they were construction workers at the mall) I think there is inner beauty waiting to be liberated in everyone.
