Do I wear m/u for visit to MAC counter?

I might be going to the MAC counter at my local mall tonight. I'm pretty nervous because they are one of those counters that plays loud music. Hence why I've never been before because I find it all to be pretty intimidating. So, I've never been to a make-up counter, MAC or otherwise, and I'm not sure what the protocol is. Am I suppose to wear foundation or leave my face bare? I'm planning on trying some brushes and e/s. Who knows what else they'll get me to try...I'm sure it'll be fun but it'll feel like a tease since I only have so much money to spend. lol

When I go I barely wear any makeup. Maybe foundation and mascara, but i'm pretty bare when I go so i can try on things. Don't be intimidated by the music, you get used to it pretty fast and it drowns out. Sometimes i wear makeup if i'm going to another store and happen to have it on, but for when i'm seriously makeup shopping i go in with as little on as possible.
Nobody ma has been rude to me about it and its fun to get a little makeover sometimes too.

Thank you! Maybe I'll go au natural since I want to try applying studio fix with a brush. I'm so excited to try their goodies in person! Btw, congrats on your weight loss. I've hit a plateau and still have 15lbs to go. Blah.

especially go bare if you want to try on foundation. It is a hassle taking off your makeup there.
Congratulations to you too. Losing weight is a hard thing to do, but 15 pounds isn't much to go you'll be there in no time.

I just wear foundation when I visit my MA at the counter. It's Studio Fix Fluid. I get the rest there. I love to try new colors and combinations!

well, i was in san fran last week and visited a mac counter everyday i was there and on each visit my morning makeup efforts were swiped away for my face to be redone with products/looks i wanted to try. i think its best to go with a cleansed, toned and moisturised face so that your skin is ready for whatever you want to try.

Just got back and had a wonderful time! It was a very positive experience for me. The girl was very helpful, informative and friendly. I felt like I was talking to a girlfriend! I only wore a little concealer. I only ended up trying on blushes so I probably could've worn more. I tried Tenderling on since it's been raved about so much but it didn't do much for me. She also suggested another blush that she wears a lot (she's also fair skinned) for "future reference". I wish I could remember the name...it started with an "f" and was a purple color. I was pleasantly surprised how that one looked on my face!So I came home with Margin blush, 116 blush brush and the 182 for my studio fix (pressed poweder) foundation. I'm so excited to try them!! Thanks for the advice!

I usually go fully made up because I'm either coming from work or have additional errands to run. I also keep a makeup pouch in my handbag just in case I hate the job they do so I can run to the ladies and repair the damage before continuing to the next destination. They do have cleansers to remove makeup, so unless your makeover is your first appt. of the day and you don't mind walking through a mall to get to the counter without makeup, then there's really no reason NOT to put your face on beforehand.

I used to not wear make-up each time since i came straight from work, and i normally don't wear make-up to work because I get up sooooo early. Anyway, Now because I am thinking about become a freelancer for them I wear different looks each time I go in.

If I know I want to try on something or thinking about a quick demo I go in with a cleansed face that is moisturized and that is it.

I'm really moving up in the world, eh?

It might've very well been Fever! It was like magic to see a plum color e/s turn out to looks so different than in the pan. Very decieving! Not one I would've attempted had it not been rec'd by a fellow fair skinned MUA!
Question: Is it necessary to wash MAC brushes with their cleanser? I usually use softsoap but I've never had a brush so darn soft that I want to make sure I don't end up ruining my new investments!

If you're going to get something to be a match, like foundation or a natural lip shade, I'd go without wearing that. Otherwise, it makes no difference, IMO. I'm pretty sure they might have you remove any makeup you're wearing if you're looking to get made over.

I wear minimal MU, concealer, powder and mascara. Unfortunately I always seem to find MA's who think I know NOTHING!! It's so frustrating being patronised.

Today when I was at MAC I got a really nice MA amazingly, but when I went somewhere else, the MA explained to me the process of applying e/s grrr, I made it clear I already new but I dunno.

i tend to visit counters on the weekend, and this means i am usually wearing very minimal makeup.

i've yet to have an MA be rude to me because of this. most seem to understand that i'm on my down time and don't want to do fully made up face on myself.

I always go all out when I head to the MAC counter. I figure that the MA's are the only people who notice/compliment my makeup, which is a nice change from my clueless friends! They can always take it off quickly with a MAC wipe, at least in my experience. However, if you're going in specifically with foundation in mind, it might be nice to cut them some slack and go in with a bare face. Then they have less work to do removing it, and can see a truer skin tone to match.

I always have makeup on (and I am always nervous about having it look good, lol). I've actually never had a MAC MUA apply anything on me. I am a reckless buyer.. I just grab any eyeshadow/lipgloss that catches my eye, and figure I'll somehow make it work at home

Well... the very very first time I ever went to MAC I wore nothing because I was in search of a foundation. That was the only time a MUA ever applied anything on me.
