gel liner as shadow?

i've heard that some people use their gel liners as shadows/shadow bases. any tips on doing this? i'm scared it's going to come out all uneven and blotchy if i try doing this. trying to use Deep Shadow paint to make a nice budgeproof brown smoky eye was such a nightmare! i'm thinking of trying Shade fluidline or my BB Ivy Ink liner for this. tips? tricks?

thanks in advance

Fluidlines are really smooth so I apply them like I would any normal cream shadow, either with my fingers or 224 brush.

i use fluidlines & paints as bases for shadows, & as shadows on their own all the time. for me, i find that the 242 or 252 brush work best for application as opposed to my fingers. that's just my preference tho.. play around with both and see which works better for you

I use fluidlines as bases all the time, I use a concealer brush to apply them. Sweet Sage and Nonconformist are my faves for bases.
