the stylists at my salon have them off until they need to use them. for instance if they are doing a blowout that finished with a flat iron, they turn on the flat iron when they start blowing out the client.

Most of my curling irons turn off automatically after an hour, I turn them or my CHI flat iron on when I'm blow drying the hair. They all heat up so quickly that they don't need to be on all day to be hot.

I have a few coworkers that leave theirs on ALL the time, even overnight. o_O I have one that doesn't shut off automatically, and sometimes it stays on for a few hours, but not on purpose!

Agrreed and also we have to unplug everything even the chargable trimmers,
at the end of the day before we leave.

Mine are always plugged in but not ON. I think that would wear out the appliances..or at least it would seem that way.
