Help me decide what to order during the F&F sale!

Ok, I hope this is alright... I did search and browse the forums a bit, but since what I'm asking is rather specific, I think it needs it's own thread. Let me know if this kind of thing is frowned upon or it needs to be somewhere else.

Ok, so I've just gotten into MAC and I'm trying to build a neutral pallette, as I'm going to school to be a teacher and that's the kind of stuff I wear everyday. So far, the list of all of the MAC shadows I own include: naked lunch, shale, mulch, all that glitters, and trax.

Here's my wishlist of colors: blanc type/brule, ricepaper, shroom, satin taupe, bronze/antiqued, honey lust, woodwinked, espresso/handwritten, wedge, and sketch. Those are the colors that I think will give me a variety of looks but are not too over to top for most occassions for me.

I'm planning on buying 7 shadows in pan form and 1 pallette during the sale, and I'm having trouble deciding whether to get blanc type or brule, bronze or antiqued, or espresso or handwritten. Basically, from swatches I've seen, they look similar but different, and I keep going back and forth. Any opinions or insight? I'd go see them in a store, but the closest one is an hour away from me, and I don't think I can get there before the sale.

If it helps, I'm very fair with neutral to slightly yellowish undertones (NC15, probably lighter) with bright blue eyes and light brown hair. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would pick blanc type since it blends much better and is a touch lighter (good for nc15 highlight or base color), bronze is sooooo much prettier on nc's because it's not as red as antiqued imo, and espresso since it's just a hair lighter but still great for the outer corners to darken things up. I also use espresso daily for my brow color although I totally love handwritten as well, that one's kind of a tough call.

Espresso-medium/dark neutral brown.
Handwritten-dark chocolate brown so that depends on what your looking for.

Thank you, thank you! That helps so much

I'd pick:
blanc type (I just don't find that brule is such an interesting color)
bronze (antiqued is more red, so bronze might suit your skin color better)
handwritten (the Matte2 texture is awesome)
Also I see you have honey lust on your list, be careful with it, it has a lustre texture and I find it very hard to apply, you need to use a creamy base under it.

I'd go with Blanc Type over Brule. I haven't purchased Blanc Type yet, but only because I've already got Vanilla and Brule, which is enough of that kind of color for me. The Matte2 texture is awesome though, which is why you should get Blanc Type!

Bronze over Antiqued.

Espresso or Handwritten... that's hard. I love both colors, but I use Handwritten more. It's a great outer V color, and I use it several times a week. Espresso is slightly lighter, and I just don't get quite as much use out of it.

Thanks for the warning about Honey Lust. I've got a paint pot and udpp so I think between the two I will hopefully be able to avoid making too much of a mess!

I haven't tried any of the matte2s so I'll be sure to get both blanc type and handwritten. They both sound so pretty!

Yay! I'm so glad there's such a consensus for blanc type and bronze. I think my little sister would kill me if I didn't get bronze though, she adores that color. I think your recommendation for handwritten has pushed me over the edge for it

It sounds like a beautiful color!

I have to vote Blanc Type and Bronze as well. Handwritten too, the Matte2's are soooo soft and blendable.

Bronze: It's a very rich colour. Absolutely gorgeous, but not very neutral. I love it. I think its something that would look good on everyone.
Antiqued: Dark reddish brown... like coppering but dirtyed up some. It's beautiful teamed with all that glitters. great crease colour
Honeylust: As i'm sure you know, it is drool worthy in the pan. It is however, a BITCH! to work with. If you use a creamy primer (like UDPP) and own Fix +, you should be absolutely fine though. It takes some work, but once your figure it out... oh man, it's so hot.
Espresso: generally a good dark brown to have. not too red either.
Sketch: A must have. Perfect with all that glitters and antiqued!

fyi bronze/antiqued look nothing nothing nothing alike! It's so hard to tell from photos, but bronze is a straight up super rich bronze. Antiqued is very very red. They are both very worthy a place in your palette.
