Highlights help

I have long medium brown hair and really want some honey, caramel, and auburn highlights. The only problem is that my hair is texturized at the top which means the top layer is VERY short. Do any of you guys have extremely short layers and highlights?

My hair is brown and long with only shorter layers around my face, but I love having highlights. The only thing I would say is that highlights will make any length of layers stand out and look bolder if u don't mind that, I'd go for it
