^ omigosh lol nothing is wrong with testing the water and hanging out as friends first. I say that cause i'm kinda in your situation but I refuse to let someone rush me or jump into anything. Cause i'm a bit of a chicken too and I have to get comfortable before anything else. If he's really a good enough guy he'll understand and be on that level with you until you're comfortable to take it a step further. I say call him. What could it hurt? He may have a girlfriend but hey I mean why can't you guys be friends. When they break up he'll be lookin for a shoulder to cry on

And the forgetting to save numbers thing does happen: It happened to me: I met this CUTE guy at work and I got a order in and some how my phone just lost it and didn't save it!

Sucks when it happens but it does! So honestly try to contact him again.
