hey everyone!

so this is something that's been troubling me for just about forever. i can't make a cateye with my cream eyeliner. i have the Loreal HIP Cream Eyeliner and a thin pointy brush from Sephora, and i've been practicing every day, but i can't seem to get the actual technique down. do any eyeliner pros have any tips to share that might help me out??? thanks in advance!

come out from the edge in a wedge shape, keep the top line straight out instead of curving it, and draw another line to come up and meet it from the outer corner, it will give you a better shape.

Draw a full base line that follows your natural lashes before creating the wing. This will give you something to anchor it to. The last poster is right about keeping the top line straight but it depends on your eye shape of the angle you wish to use.

I also recommend trying an angled liner brush instead of the thin point. For me, it is much easier to control the wing.

One last thing, if you follow the angle at which your lower water line connects to the top lid, that will give you a guiding tool as to what shape will naturally flatter your eye.

Also, next time you may want to ask these types of questions in the recommendations forum. You will likely get more responses.

I tightline and line my lash first quite thinly, then draw the angle on the flick I want to make, winging out from my eye. Then with my eye closed, I draw another line above this, to make the outline of the shape I'm going for, and then fill it in. ^_^

I use several methods for the cat eye. Sometimes I use a pencil liner as a guide as it is much easier to smudge out, or q tip, or brush into the cat eye shape. Most of the time I will line close to the eylashes and then start swinging outward and upwards. My best cat eyes are done with either a 208 brush or the 209 (pointed) following a pencil lining as a guide and then swinging it up and out

ops, I should have written that after I pencil it to my liking, I go over it with the gel liner!!

Loreal's HIP cream liners suck.

I'd recommend the felt tip liner from them...I forgot what it's called.
It's my favorite.
As for the cateye, line your eyes like you would normally then draw a line (angled or straight up...whatever you prefer). Afterwards, go over that line so that it doesn't look like you drew a 90 degree angle on your eye. But start in the middle and go down towards your eye so that you still have a pointed end!

Gosh. I need a better way to describe things. Hahaha! Sorry
