I am confused - what is the process of putting on your face?

I'm going out tomorrow night and I dont have my makeup colour sorted but anyway, what's the process from coming out of the shower to leaving for makeup for nights out and events? I know its different for everyone but what's the general gist?
So for example for work safe days for me its
1) moisturiser
2) eyeshadow
3) Blush
4) Mascara

But when I go out I like to look a bit more done up but I've got so many products now since I've joined this site (

) Im confused as to when to use them, eg strobe cream, highlighter ( is this before or after contour and blush and where do you put highlight?) help!!!!!!!

My routine is

Moisturizer
Strobe Cream (although this can be mixed with your foundation, or used as a highlight)
Foundation
Concealer
Powder
Brows
UDPP
Eyeshadow
Liquid liner
Pencil liner
Mascara
Contour (which is under your cheek bones. Suck your cheeks in and pull the fish face to find out where!)
Blush
Highlight (I just apply this at the top of my cheek bones, but some people use it on their nose, and above their cupids bow)
Lip liner (though I'm naughty and skip this most times)
Lipstick
Lip gloss

Tis quite a long list, but I hope it's given you some ideas. Of course there is no right or wrong way. I know a lot of people do their eyes before their face to avoid the problem of fall out from eye shadows and pigments. Hope this helps!

Here is mine:

- Toner
- Eye cream (I'm trying to remember to put it on first because I used to do it later)
- Lip balm (like with eye cream, I'm trying to change my routine)
- Tinted moisturizer
- Concealer
- Eye shadows
- Eye liner
- Mascara
- Eye brows
- Powder
- Contour my cheeks
- Blush
- Highlight my cheeks
- Contour and highlight nose
- Lip liner
- Lipstick (usually no lip gloss because I don't like it)

If I'm afraid of fallout, I'll do my face after eye shadows. Hope it helps.

I started to answer this question in a step by step process and I realized I have far too many steps for that.

Honestly, it's about layering and what works best for your skin. I've played around with mine since I seriously started to wear makeup, about 5 or 6 years ago, and I'm still finding new ways to improve it.

I've noticed, though, that there's a few key items that I have to use, or my face comes off by the middle of the day.

~A good primer is the key to long lasting face makeup. I love Philosophy's 'The Present,' because it doubles as a moisturizer and a primer. I also really like MAC Prep + Prime with SPF 50, but if my skin's a little dry it dries my face out completely.
~I don't know how I lived before Fix + spray. Seriously. This is, in my opinion, a crutial step for setting blush (mine comes off easy for some reason) and mineralized facial powder.
~Finishing powder. I know MAC has one, but I didn't find that out until after I bought MakeUp For Ever's HD finishing powder. You hardly use any of it and it really does help to set your powder. This is done after Fix +.
~If I'm wearing eye makeup with a lot of fall out, I'll do my eyes first. If not, I do the face first.

Other things I personally have to do..contour my nose and cheeks with Strada blush (I'm NC15/20, so anything darker makes it look like I'm trying too hard).

I'm sorry I couldn't come up with anything more definitive for you. I hope this helps!
