Illustrator Help?

Hey all. I know there are some really talented graphic artists on here, so I'm hoping that someone can help me out. I made some drawings for SO for Valentine's day... I scanned them and everything, but I'd love to color them/make them look more like paintings. The problem is, I have no idea how to use Illustrator. I have pretty minimal experience with Photoshop... if that helps at all (probably not hehe).

I was wondering if anyone has any tutorials or experience with the program or with digitally coloring sketches/drawings? I would really appreciate any help that I can get! Here are the scanned images:

I tried it out and I think it looks okay... I guess I just have to practice! The tutorial helps tons!
