Independence or Death!

I see a lot of people posting Yellow+Green FOTDs here and they ALWAYS scream Brazil on me. I never go for these colors together, because here we only wear them rooting for our soccer team.

Though, today, September 7th is our Independence Day. It was staged: our then Emperor was riding his horse, stopped by the river and cried "Independence or Death!". There was no blood shed nor anything like that, just a little theater to set the country independent.

The green represents our forests
The yellow our gold
The blue our skies
The 27 stars our states
And words mean Order and Progress (pretty common ideals back then)
