Yep - even if it doesn't look the same in the pan, if it looks the same (or better) on your face, isn't that the whole point? It's not my place to knock anyone's choices, but to me, whether it looks and behaves the way you like is much more important than if it's an exact physical replica of an old product. Then again, I'm not one to sit around looking at my makeup. It's nice when it's pretty in the pan, but the main thing for me is if it makes me look fabulous when I use it. I'd like to apologize if my little rants irk some people. I don't mean to sound judgmental, just trying to be encouraging about enjoying your new skin finishes for themselves! Hey, if you love the way it looks, that's the most important thing! Old isn't always better in the world of makeup. Another thing about old Stereo Rose - it wasn't that long lasting - it'd fade pretty quick. I bet this new one will have better lasting power like the newer MSFs have been having. WOW, that color is so gorgeous on you! I just love it with your skin tone. It's so feminine! It's definitely not going to look as nice on me, but you better wear that Snapdragon daily all spring long!!!!! :hot:

You look beautiful - the blush is PERFECT for you.

Also, they may have threaded your brows very narrowly, but I really like the way it opens up your face and brings out your eyes. I'm usually all about the natural brows when possible, but this look is extremely elegant on you and just lifts your whole face and bone structure and even the way your head looks on top of your neck. You can always grow 'em back in, but that is a beautiful look for you, so don't feel badly, hon.

I think it's good of you to say something. There's people who have already mentioned they like it but are worried they shouldn't. If they like it they should be happy and not feel sad about it. I understand the people wanting a back up though. That does suck. But most have a ton of other things needing to be used :) I have a crap ton of makeup and I don't think I could ever use up a msf lol and if I did GOOD. Now I can start using some of the other ones more lol.

Here's the thing: it may not look the same in the pan, due to a whole variety of issues, but the main thing is WILL IT LOOK THE SAME ON YOUR SKIN? When it's all blended together and applied, it doesn't look the way it looks in the pan anyhow. Frankly, I have a much earlier Stereo Rose from the 1st time it was repromoted and that thing is glittery and frosty and very old hat looking compared to the newer skin finishes that are so much more finely milled. If MAC does a new Stereo Rose that has all the benefits of the newer MSFs like Adored and Scene to be Seen, it's going to be a huge improvement, as far as I'm concerned.

If you don't already have Stereo Rose, want it, buy the new one and like the way it looks on you, where's the problem? The repromoted Lavender Whip was far better on me, because it wasn't as chalky.

I just don't think it pays to be outraged. Either you already have a ton of Stereo Roses and don't need another BU, or you do back it up now and won't need to open it for a while or you didn't have it before and will have a nice new MSF. If it's not exactly the same deep reddish orange shade of the older ones, there have been A LOT of other blushes and skin finishes that have come after that do what SR does, but better. I'm thinking about My Paradise, Modern Mandarin, Fiery Impact, Blazing Haute, etc. If you get it and don't like it, go ahead and return it or whatever. But even that's not worth being outraged.

I like my Specktrettes to be happy, not angry mad volcano women. :D
I agree in theory Liba.. it might be a better colour than the original if it's been reformulated. However this deals with the emotional aspect of makeup not with the technical or the reality.

MAC calls it Stereo Rose -- and people who buy have an expectation which might exceed reality that it is the same as the previous SR no matter how much better this product might be.

But again, it's all subjective. What it really might be, what we really might feel about something or how much we like it and are willing to pay for it.... is all a subjective issue which is sometimes far from reality.

I don't think people are outraged -- but just disappointed. You are right they should have called it Rose Stereo or HiFi Rose, or FOF Rose.. but using the same name gives one impression one is buying the same item as before. Like when Coke changed the formula -- there was mass rebellion. Granted, the new coke might have been "better" to some, but it's loyal fans wanted the old one.

lol .. it's the brand marketing that counts.

Thank you for the help! As I would have just returned it. I guess a closed mouth doesn't get fed. So I know I need to speak up if I'm not entirely satisfied.
I do too! As soon as I have my new one I will post comparison photos. It's nice of them to let us keep the originals. It will be interesting to see if they swatch the same.

I'm amazed at the customer service in the US. I bet my whole stash that over here they would never send you a new one, and especially not letting you keep the other.

The sad thing is people want those old ones. The brand new MSFs, especially from this past year, are spectacular, and yet people didn't buy them. I cannot even understand how something as amazing as StbS is still hanging around on the site. I'm sure MAC repromotes those old hyped up ones to cash in, no doubt about it. One thing I am pretty sure about is I don't think it's as simple to get that really veiny marbled look of the old MSFs if you are using the newest milling techniques - it just grinds the pigments too fine to marbleize in that way; so there is definitely a trade off. If MAC had released this one and had called it Quadrophonic Rose, instead of Stereo Rose, would people be as interested in it? I'm thinking no, even if it's better. Maybe if people revolt against repromotes that aren't vintage technology, MAC will come up with a new way of marketing them. Personally, I think repromoting a color and calling it Stereo Rose 2.0 or Nouveau Stereo Rose or what have you, and playing up the tech advances "Smoother! More Even! Easy to Blend!" would be a great way to do things, but it won't satisfy everyone, that's for sure.
Stereo Rose / Perfect Topping 2.0 would've been perfectly fine and probably the best option... Then people who aren't buying because they have the original already would be interested in getting a new improved version, and those of us that have never owned it wouldn't have false expectations! Win win. I just feel in exchange for my money, MAC should provide me w what I paid for.

This is exactly how I feel. Customers don't want to feel betrayed when they are giving a brand their loyalty & money.
