clearly it is just me.
I hate to pull a fast one on all of you, but I'm not wearing it here. In fact, I'm not wearing any liner at all. Only lipstick and and a little gloss. That says all I need to know, though! Thanks! lol

Seriously, though, hope no one is mad about my trickery! I'm a tricky, tricky girl. Maybe the fact that my lips make that little shadow naturally is why Stone doesn't look unnatural on me.

I lined my lips with Stone in this look I did from a few months ago. I don't think there is anything unnatural looking about it and I don't think anyone would notice a gray line around my mouth.

That looks really pretty mandy! It looks well integrated to me. Stone works well as a liner than a lip color against my skin tone!

Stone is pretty grey, but if you have very pigmented lips, it just winds up blending into them, toning them down. It's good for adding cool brown/grey undertones to lipstick you'd put on top, and for making the lipstick color look "dirtier".

One thing to consider, imo, is that the lippies in this collection are already very 90's. I find a more modern way to wear these sorts of colors is to just use them without a lip pencil entirely and pat them into the lips well, so the natural lip color is in there. I wore Riri Nude and Exclusive Event a lot last year without liner and got lots of compliments from my makeup artist friends who normally hate those 90's colors (they already lived through the 90's back then). It was very due to skipping the liner (and making sure to wear just the right eye look/blush). I think if you're going to get any of the lipsticks or glosses in this collection, just skip the lip liner. Balance the lips with a eyeshadow that's warmer than the lipstick, to add extra warmth to the face, like a really nice copper color, and/or plenty of black liner. Be careful to use a blush that is neutral too, or just some nice bronzer. The idea's to make the lips work by balancing the whole face, rather than trying to change the lip color around on its own.

Hope you all aren't mad that I played a little trick!
This literally cracked me up! Hahaha so clever ;) gorgeous!

I knew actually mandy, Thats why I said you were wearing it.
Because I know you are tricky and wanted you to admit it.
So that is all I needed to know actually.

I agree, I think it can look quite natural depending on where you choose to place the shadow, how well you blend it out, and your skintone. The blog link I posted was a good example of a really natural appearance I think.

I'm starting to change my mind about the lipsticks in this collection. I might walk away with 2 or 3. I liked Liba's advice about patting them on lightly and letting a bit of my natural lip color peak through. I think that would make them more wearable for my complexion.

Perhaps the other reason is, I don't really use liners to line my lips either....I use them like lipstick, by themselves
They are great for this purpose. I have quite a few in my stash that I have yet to wear in this way, though, so I need to pull them out. Cranberry was one of my favorites to wear by itself before I lost it.

This is a nude collection - it's that same old thing where maybe none of them will work and try before you buy. The Naturally collection from a few years back, I didn't buy a single lippie from it - not a single one was a good nude for me, so it was a skip. There were some really nice lipsticks in that collection, but all of them were wrong for me.

I think the lipsticks in this collection are going to be pretty difficult for peaches and cream complexions. Maybe a few of the glosses will be better overall for anyone, but this is one of those more narrow-focused lip assortments.

Very true. Yash has been on my radar for a bit, so I might give it a try. At least it's perm and I don't have to be in any rush! That's the positive side of this... I'd rather spend my money on the shadows this time around anyway.

So true! Icon is the only one that *might* work on me but I prefer the look of Pet Me, Please if I'm going to wear a Frost anyway. I have a nice range of nude lipsticks now (might grab Myself.. wow that sounds wrong) so I'll be focusing on the shadows big time. They're my kind of shades for sure. Also Breaking Ground CCB will be mineee finally. And possibly Pink Cult or the grey lipglass depending on swatches.

Same! I have Yash, but I honestly never wear it. At the time it came out I thought it would work, but have since recognized which nudes are better suited to my complexion. This collection is most definitely best seen in person. It seems that the shadows will probably work on a lot of people, but the lipsticks ---nope!

Love to see a pic of this combo!
It's the signature nude lip of Instagram MUA @ambermdean. I have a pic of myself wearing the combo very lightly but I don't want to be a narcissist by posting my selfie lol. Nevertheless it is unnatural looking but gorgeous.
