MAC - Cham Pale Discussion

Hi. Well, all my stuff arrivd and I've given my 2 cents below. Overall, a big let down.

Paint Pots: Shontay is 100% right in her assessment (altho I was hoping for a miracle). I wanted to badly to love them, esp. Dang. Cuvee.... what a mess. Fallout and lack of buildable color. I used UDPP under them, then tried using Painterly PP as a base...no good. I also discovered I could get the desired effect by just dealing with Idol Eyes (a PITA lustre but it was better than dealign with the paint pot). Kudos to the lovely lady who posted her gorgeous look a few pages back using Dang. Cuvee... I just could not make it happen for me. Chilled on Ice on me was VERY close to Bare Study Paint Pot. I didn't even bother trying Vintage Selection... Also, the sparkles fell out and irritated me eyes.

Lipgelees: These delivered for me--big shine and shimmer, great consistency BUT I will share that there is very little discernable difference on my between Sin-tillation and Luxure. Both are super light pale shimmer--Sin-tillation seems a bit more pink with more pink duochrome. Bubble Lounge is EVERYTHING I dreamed of (but I did return 3 to MAC with the other stuff) BUT it is very similar to Resort Life. Resort Life is more beige-y while BL has a slightly pinky/peach depth to it but in the tubes you have to look twice. I kept all the lipgelees.

Chez Chex lame: Lovely, fine sheer gold powder but very disappointing in terms of payoff. On me (fair skin) it barely showed up, even after patting it on with a mineral brush. Also, I have many MSFs and at $28 this was a waste and under performed for me. Back it goes.

That's it. I'll do a quick report on the SYs stuff I got in that thread) (in short, Dark Diversion is nice but you have to build it - I kept it, Play It Proper not worth the $--nice but dupable, and Something New same thing--nice but dupeable).

I know you won't behave -- hell it's the end of a decade... live it up.

Shontay... your words make me sad -- I know the feeling and I am at that place too... a bit sad, a horrible decade for me with too many loved ones lost... I hope the next one finds us in a different place and here's a toast to winning th e Lotto !

Hergreyness and Shontay- It has been a confusing decade. Being in my 20's this decade has been a huge learning experience, lots of soul searching and finding myself. Lots of heartbreak full of questions. This quote has made me feel better about this decade- "We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey."- Kenji Miyazawa

I look back WAY too much. Where would I be if I would have made different decisions. I'm almost 30 and dont have anything to show for it. I've been a waitress for the last 7 years, still floating around this world trying to find my place in it. So many would if's plague me every day. But I realize we must enjoy the present and embrace the future. I know we can do it!

I'm not sure that it helps, but MUFE is a French company and animal testing on finished products was banned across Europe in 1998. However, there's nothing to stop them from using ingredients that were tested on animals and I know that I've seen fake lashes with feathers for sale there, which means that they use products that come from animals...

NARS has a clear statement on their web site that they do not and have never tested on animals (although their parent company does), if that makes you feel better. Urban Decay is and has always been test-free. Surprisingly, most luxury brands don't test their cosmetic products on animals (Chanel, Dior, Yves St. Laurent), but they can be problematic because other branches of their companies quite often sell animal products such as leather of furs.

Mac and its parent company are both non-testers, so at least we can feel good about that.

Sorry to hear that you had to change your diet- I have similar problems in that I tend to drift in anemia if I don't eat meat at least occasionally. On a lighter note, I'm sure many here (especially HerGreyness) would be surprised to learn that there was a period where you were sleeping a lot!

So I used Let Me Pop p/p today and it was just okay. Nothing to really write home about. I was hoping for a more vibrant copper, but it was a lighter goldish-copper which didn't really stand out on its own as much as I would have liked. I did add a brighter copper e/s to the outter corner/crease just to liven up the look. I was hoping the p/p alone would be enough of a look that I could add a smudge of eyeliner and mascara and have a pretty easy eye look, but that was not the case.

I do have to say though, I did not use a base underneath and had minimal fallout at the end of the day - I was going to say no fallout, but when I just did an up close inspection in the mirror I could see a few tiny glitter pieces under the eyes - I did have some creasing, but not much and I do have slightly oily eyelids.

Also, I tried Sin-tillation lipgelee again today and wasn't loving it either. I tried sheering it out a bit and it's pretty, but I have Resort Life which really is close enough for me. I haven't tried Bubble Lounge yet, but that one looks like it will be a better color for me. Hopefully it is less metallic than Sin-tillation.
I am really disappointed. I've always look forward to the day after Christmas collections, but this one let me down. And I was so excited about the pale frosty colors. Such a bummer.

I used Too Chic b/p from Stylishly Yours as a highlight with Warm Soul and it was *gorgeous* I kept looking at the pretty subtle highlight all day. It's probably dupable, but I really like it. Can't wait to try Play it Proper tomorrow.

I ended up with:

2 Fix+ Lavender (Love Love Love this)
1 Bubble Lounge L/G
1 Straight to the Head L/G
1 Tinted Lip Condition Lavender
1 Hot House (Back up from Venomous Villians LOVE THIS ALSO) Lipgelee
1 IGNK E/L

Overall, I am happy with everything I purchased. No returns here. I am looking at some of the upcoming releases and dont feel very excited about much in the near future, but that could change, in a second!

Let me know the difference in Too Chic & Play it Proper. I really love PiP! I ordered 2 more.

Too bad the pp didn't work out for you.

I returned my paint pot - and I never return anything! I just couldn't deal with the glitter and I think MAC should know about the problem. If I kept it, MAC might think I liked it.

finally got my shipment notification today in my e-mail at work, and when i went to track the package, it had already been delivered! so i had feline (holy crap is this thing black. you all weren't kidding), i get no kick, and the lighter chromagraphic pencil waiting for me when i got home! getting three eye pencils you want to use on your waterline when you only have two eyes is problematic though, haha.

So I got my 2nd haul of the collection, I got Let me Pop and Dangerous Cuvee...
Dangerrous Cuvee is going back, what a sheer glittery mess...I have no use for that, however Let me Pop is great. Gorgeous color.

So after staying away from MAC & Spcktra for almost a year (except for the occasional lurking), I got sucked back in after having my son early December.  And of course, being unable to join in the Boxing Day madness physically, I did so virtually with Cham Pale. And MAC delivered within 48 hrs!! So happy I have toys to play with. =D
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and swatches!  It kept me awake and entertained during the night feeds.  =P  I still want all the paint pots but held myself to only two. My haul was:  Dangerous Cuvee, Let Me Pop!, I Get No Kick and Crest the Wave (saw it in Goodbyes and I've always wanted it). I'm wavering on Vintage Selection but hope to pick it up as a swap or stag in the future.
I must say them pp's are like dazzleglass for the eyes as people have said and if my eyes weren't so puffy from lack of sleep they'd look better on me instead of crinkley disco balls (yess, I have more crinkles with puffy eyes!). I tried them with different shadows and different finishes and I like the kick the glitter gives. DC looks more mature so LMP feels a bit juvenile on me but I'll keep it anyway. I found both pp's to be creamy, almost like shadesticks meet pp's. No problem then with dry and sheer.
I do wish that instead of pp's MAC would've released the colours as more eye kohls. I love what IGNK does to wake up my eyes!  And the texture is divine - so creamy!  If the pp colours were released as kohls I would get all of them AND backups!
I did pause as to whether I should exchange LMP for Dark Diversion f/l but I really wanna try it out in springtime. Doesn't mean I won't get DD tho!
All this means is... I'm soooo screwed when it comes to the January collections...
Edit: iPhone auocoorrect turns colours to collies - "MAC would've released the collies as more eye kohls."

Congratulations, BlahWah! So nice to see you back. :)

I was away a bit too, but came back for the most interesting collections. And this one was very interesting!

^ I read somewhere that vintage selection is similar to Benefit's creme shadow in RSVP, which has a lot better reviews that VS. I was in love with the colour of it as well, but I don't really want to be spending that sort of money on something that's poor quality (especially as someone who didn't even know how to use creme shadows until this thread! ;) )

Don't you find it moves around? How do you make it stay? I used to have a Feline and then got rid of it... now I just bought another one. But I'll get rid of this one too if I can't figure out how to make it non-smear. lol
