I got matched to a NC the last time, because it makes my skin look more calmed down. I've red cheeks and the NC makes them look less red and NW makes them look more red. When i wear a NW my skin looks darker, because it looks more red and that was the problem. I don't know if this makes any sense
The NC and NW system is difficult. I think the best you can do is ask for samples of both and try them and see which you like most.
Maybe the MUAs liked NC better on your skin too because it looks more calmed down
