I bought from almost every LE collection since July 2006

I have not purchased one thing from MAC since the Give me Liberty of London collection. I'm focusing on using what I have, which is, frankly, quite a lot. This is actually a big deal for me since I tend to buy compulsively, so I am rather proud of how I have been able to use a lot more discretion this year.

That being said, everyone is different - no one should feel pressured either to buy or not buy from any collection. All a matter of personal choice, and everyone's situation is different.

congrats on not making any pruchases recently Rach

and you said it perfectly - everyone's situation is different.
yes.gif
even if you buy one thing from a collection and use it to death - that is great! if you buy the entire collection - that's fine too!

I think half the time it's me that's pressuring myself! I either feel guilty for what I do spend, or have deep regrets on what I don't spend. It seems like a fine line sometimes.. at least I know it's possible to live without it

LOL. That's me exactly. If I'm unsure about something and don't buy it, I feel like I lost out on a potentially great shade. If I'm unsure about something and I do buy it, I feel like I wasted my money on something I'll hardly use.

What works for me, as far as I can tell, is delaying purchase for as long as possible. I did this with Victorian, which looked weird to me the first couple of times I tried it. But I felt in my heart that it would work, so I finally bought it anyway. Now I'm wondering why I ever had any doubts, because I love it and I get compliments every time I wear it. Let's hear it for delayed gratification.

Same. But I need to stop. Really. It's time for a new car- I can't keep having one that breaks down every single month. The next few months will be really tight money-wise while I try to get a good down payment.

Count me in regarding the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" theory! If I buy something and it doesn't end up working for me, it feels like such a waste of money that could have been better spent elsewhere. If I'm unsure about something and don't buy it, I feel like I'll be kicking my arse later on because the particular product I chose not to buy will become some sort of life-changing/HG/super-hyped big deal (a la Stereo Rose, for example) and I won't be able to track it down anymore. I realize how foolish this sounds but sometimes my mind goes there anyway, haha.

I try to not get crazy and buy everything when a collection is released.
I went wild when I first began to buy MAC, and bought almost eveything people said was gorgeous... well we are different so something is gorgeous for me doesn't means is gorgeous for eveyone and the other way round... yes I made a few not nice pucheses.
Now I know what looks nice on me and stick to my guns.
Also MAC has so many collections coming out ( maybe a tad too many) that I cannot possibly buy from every single one... I'm not that rich.
On the other hand, when we will relocate to Europe, tha nearest MAC counter will be at 1h and half driving, and also is MAC is more expensive over there.
So I want to hoard as many things as possible while I can....

So proud of you Rach!

As most of you know, I have been on a major cutback. Not necessarily because I don't have the money to spend on MAC, but because I have so much and have reached a saturation point. Since May, I have purchased 1 bottle of foundation, and 1 eyeshadow. That's it. HUGE accomplishment for me. I have a self imposed 4 item per collection limit, but lately, I haven't even been very tempted. From the Pale Charm collection, I am interested in the quad, but, unless there is something extrordinary in the color story, that will probably be it. Everything starts to look the same after awhile

Next year will be a cut back year for me as well and it will be hard but worth it. I have so much LE stuff in my stash that I need to focus more on the perm stuff.

I can def relate with you all. This collection out every month thing is starting to break my bank. I'm hoping after VV I'll slow down for the rest of the year. Unless something really grabs me. But must limit myself to only a few things. I got engaged in July and really need to save for my wedding and also so we can get out of apartments and actually get a house. I've been buying MAC for years but have never gotten into LE items till this year! I didnt really pay attention to the collections. I just bought randomly. I even remember getting the card on the mail from the Barbie collection and ended up throwing it away! I just didnt get it then. Which sucks causse they dont have the post cards anymore.

I'm trying to cut back too. But, I will probably get the quad from this collection. Especially if they are new colors.

Well your next year was 2010 for me, I had like 4 hauls of eyepans, blush pan, brushes, eyeliners and all kind of stuff from perm line, my only lim ed item this year was by candlelight msf and I want 2 eyeliners from FF but they are perm so yeah I like to buy items that have been enjoyed by a lot of people rather than risk the hype. Plus there is a sale here on specktra, every item gets here at some point if you missed it, you`ll have a chance to buy it

i hope this is a silvery kinda pale, not golden pale. i'm so tired of everything being slightly warm-toned recently!

will the info on this collection be released after the update or is that too soon?

I hope it's not shimmery. I'm trying mattes for the first time in my life, and I am loving them!
