Re: Dazzleglass Discussion
Well I think it's the fact that there are more and more special collections coming out, trying to lure new customers (come to the dark side! we have cookies!) or get people who buy from a variety of different brands to buy MAC as their main makeup priority. But there is also the eBay factor-people will buy and try and resell it to make a profit. Being a retail SA myself, it's one thing that annoys me. We have sales at our stores all the time, but two big Half-Yearly's, and people will buy tons of stuff there and then sell it on eBay for inflated prices. It could be people who cannot get to one of the stores, or it could be that they buy a ton when a new line comes out and then it inevitably sells out, thus driving up the value of the product (this can be in any case of retail). I mean in some cases, the prices are justified-we had a specific line that we sold at our store that was HORRENDOUSLY popular and got discontinued because they could not keep up with the demand for it. Well the demand just got crazier and people will probably sell a bottle of the lotion for $25 (original retail $13) because they know that the people want it and it does not exist anymore).
Back on topic though (sorry, just had a thought to get off my chest), I think that a lot of times some of the more unique products will sell out-ie the products that are not as easily dupeable. Hollywood Nights sold out insanely fast at every counter in my area, I think that's what is happening with Comet Blue...you can't find a blue glittery gloss that doesn't scream "10 year old using Claire's makeup from 1998" (believe me, I shopped there that summer when they had the blue mascaras and such...) and the sheer novelty is prompting a lot of people to buy it. That's what I love is that it isn't about just "the basic neutrals"...it's about something different and unique.
I actually have to disagree somewhat about the lipsticks. I actually prefer to wear some of them bare, especially Funtabulous. Ms. Fizz looks amazing over Hollywood Nights though.
