I got Steppin Out, Rags to Riches, Comet Blue (the LAST one!) and Pleasure Principle. I want to go back for Like Venus, Bare Necessity, Baby Sparks and Sugarrimmed. I don't find these overly sticky and they are SO smooth! I really like them!

Ounce is just how much matter is in the product. So there's less matter in the product, but the volume is more than a lipglass/lustreglass, which means the Dazzleglass is merely less matter, but takes up more space, so you essentially get more amount then lipglass/lustreglass.

Am I right?
I think so, I really don't think you can calculate the amount per gram unless you know the materials that goes into each gram.

In any case, I'm going to pick up these:
Love Alert, Steppin' Out, Comet Blue.

And Miss Fizz if these really steal my heart.

It's listed as per gram which is a measure of mass not volume, so I am assuming it is the weight of the product and not the product + container. So if two things have the same mass, they contain the same amount of the material, regardless of volume.

I don't think that's the same thing I'm trying to say though.

I'm not assuming it's the weight of the product + container.
Mass and volume are two separate things.

It's less massive, that's for sure, but maybe if it's less massive it takes up more space, which is essentially more amount of product because of the size of the tube, even if it's less dense.

To sum it up:
1. Less Mass (less dense)
2. More Volume
Which in the end I think, is MORE product, just less dense product, but that doesn't make it less. Yes, it's considered more expensive and the calculations you made make sense if there is less material that went into making a dazzleglass than a lipglass, but there is MORE product, less material went into making the product. Does that make more sense?

i don't know if people notice, but even tho the tube is longer, the product is inside a tube IN that longer tube. its double-tubed, which makes less product in general than it appears to have.

Audrey, if you couldn't resist, I will have the same problem!!

I will call my MA later if the Dazzleglasses have already arrived. On the German site, NN, Skinsheen and Minerailze Powder Foundation are up - but not the Dazzleglasses

I would love to get them this weekend!!

Actually there isn't more product, it just takes up more space (is less dense). This is why weight is used to measure mass. For an example if you had a hard candy that weighed 1 gram and a marshmallow that weighed 1 gram, it wouldn't mean you were getting more candy with the marshmallow (it is puffed up with air so it takes up more volume) than the hard candy. It may look like more, but honestly it isn't. A gram is a gram is a gram. The amount of mass you are getting with both is the same, no matter how the molecules are arranged.

Re: Dazzleglass Discussion

Never mind.
I stand corrected, fluid ounce is VOLUME.
Ounce is mass. For some reason I was thinking it was stated in ounces. I think what I said would have been right if the unit of measure was actually OUNCE. And then again, with liquids, densities are much different in effect than opposed to a marshmallow a (solid), because you can spread it out more? Dunno, I can't think. >.<

Ouch, midterms are not nice to me. My brain is fried. SMMY, you are right.

Yeah, there is way less dazzleglass than lipglass.

Since I am not hearing may raves for Pleasure Principle, I am going to profess my love! I am wearing it today over Hue l/s and it looks amazing! Everytime time the light hits it, I get a rainbow of shimmer. I just adore it. I am definately going to email MAC to beg for these to be made permanent!

Actually, there isn't less product. According to MAC, there is about the same overall amount of lipgloss as their other formulas. This particular formula weighs less than lipglass and so it shows as being a lesser amount in WEIGHT. But the volume is almost the same if you were to pour out the contents of each gloss and compare them. So really they shouldn't get used up any faster than a regular lipglass, unless you are applying them constantly because they look so cool (which I find myself doing alot)! And it isn't air that is taking up the space inside the product, it is just a lighter product with less heavy ingredients.

Hope this helps clear up the confusion some.

n-ah. i dont really buy that either. cuz you can see how thin the inner tube is. it's about 1/3 thinner than the regular lipglass. considering it's cyliner shaped so volume is about 4/9 (just under 1/2) of a regular lipglass (if they are the same height, which they are cuz the base of dazzleglass is quite thick, and it's not filled all the way to the top like lipglass). also, don't forget the brush inside takes up just as much space as the regular lipglass, so mathematically, the volumn of the dazzleglass should be 1/3 of a regular lipglass.

Now, the only thing left to do is waiting to finish one of the dazzleglasses and see how much water it holds compare to an empty lipglass tube

yes, this is how a makeup-obsessed engineer approaches this question, and yes, you can call me nerd...

I am not diggin' Comet Blue.
ssad.gif
No matter what I put it over, it turns a weird shade of unflattering purplish grey. I think I might have to exchange this for another color. Any suggestions on what to try it with for a better result? All of my lippies are very pale. Maybe that is the problem.

I love wearing Comet Blue over berry, wine, fuchsia or pinkish-purple lipstick colors. So far I've used it with Rebel, Full Fuchsia, and Girl About Town. Maybe try it with a richer/darker pink or a cool toned red. But I do love bright attention getting lip colors so if you're not into those colors then maybe just exchange it.
Oh and by the way you're not the only one who digs Pleasure Principle.

Comet Blue for me, only looks looks good with Reds and pinks.

In my makeover, my MA put on Ahoy There! and Comet Blue on top. Its so gorgeous! It made like an icy pink blue color.

I also tried it over Port Red and its beautiful!
If any of you have She Gold from DressCamp, try it with Port Red! You will love it!

Got my Money, Honey Dazzleglass the other day and LOVE it. Very pretty alone or over l/s. They also included a little booklet on MAC brushes that was an added bonus.
