thanks for your comment on my fotd! you are probably having stress and anxiety as it is probably common to our age group! it's good to be getting check ups with your doctor when you feel something is wrong or if you are worried about something. i learned that catching things as early as possible is so important. it was the difference between life and death for me.

you should relax more and take some time to let down your hair and put some make up on and go out once in a while! stress all the time just makes life miserable

hope u feel better!

Thank you so much!

I'm back from my 2nd checkup with the doc, he gave me some medication for acid reflux. I'm going to try them to see if they make me feel better. I know half of my symptoms are probably psychological because I have severe anxiety, but at the same time I KNOW that I'm not imagining it 100% because I've never felt this way before (which makes me even more anxious, and there goes the vicious cycle again). Now my parents think there's something wrong with me mentally, great.

Yup. Lippies cost SGD28 each. Like I said, PM me asap, because I can't guarantee when the lippie will sell out.

Thank you ladies! I will keep you all posted.

I hope I feel better soon too, the chest tightness I am feeling is really uncomfortable and worrying, so hopefully it is just acid reflux and nothing more life-threatening! I have been suffering for the past week, because previously the doc only checked my heart/lungs and said everything was fine, but still the symptoms never went away which worried me immensely. I should've guessed the problem was gastrointestinal, sheesh. Fingers crossed.

^hi winnie! its good to keep up with the doctor check ups if problems are persistent. you could also try eating tums! they are also a good source of calcium supplement plus they are meant for acid reflux. take some before meals if you notice that you get the chest pain near meal times. also, its important not to starve yourself for a long time and then eat after a long day at work etc.

i hope i didnt scare you or anything, but you'll be fine. i had flu like symptoms for a day and the next day i went to the doctor. the next day i was in the hospital. 4 days later i woke up super high on the morphines with lots of tubes coming out of me O_O!

if its anything life threatening, you'll definitely know. you do not have mental problems. life itself is very stressful. have some of your favourite teas and take lots of breaks between tasks. we're always here for u winnie!

Thanks I feel better now. What are tums btw?

I kept worrying that I'm going to have a heart attack, but the doc is right, if I were indeed having a heart attack I probably wouldn't still be alive one week from the initial onset.

Anna (hope I got your name right), you truly are a survivor! Luckily you went to seek medical treatment promptly, it saved your life.
yes.gif
What happened to you back then? Sounds pretty serious to me, one day you have the flu and then two days later you're in the hospital.
shockt.gif
I usually self-medicate when I have flu symptoms, maybe I should stop doing that, just in case.

When I was first diagnosed with Acid reflux I just knew I was having a heart attack...My chest felt like it was gonna explode and I felt like I couldn't breath

Tums are chewable antacids ...they are good to take but they don't work for my Acid Reflux it's too severe

I know that was sooo scary! I had that last week, when I was standing in a crowded bus on the way home from work. I thought I was going to die or faint or something. So when I reached home, I just insisted that my parents bring me to a see a doctor right away.

I hope yours is under control now, Tish.

What can I do to reduce such occurrences? Since this is the first time I'm getting acid reflux, I sure hope it's not going to be something permanent for me.

I take my Prevacid everyday.....before I eat anything...But I avoid all fried, greasy type foods and caffeine is the worse culprit....I drink no caffeinated drinks...If it makes you burp..it will cause Acid reflux...Carbonated drinks do not help...Sodas are a no no period for me

Thanks for the tips Tish!

Sounds like I have to avoid a lot of foods/drinks from now onwards. Sigh.

^ you can get tums (its in the medications/supplements section) at any drugstore. a poor diet (like tish explained) is a common culprit for heart burn. eat regularly and avoid carbonated drinks, greasy foods, high fat foods, and especially spicy foods should reduce the symptons and it should go away. i used to get it a lot and i was also confused between whether it be acid reflux or something related to my condition. and its not fun when the cardiologist sends me for CT Scans. i hate the dye injections =(

what i had was a very rare unidentified viral infection to the left ventricle. it caused my heart to swell and thus, heart failure as it could not function properly due to the swelling. its not something you can easily get. so dont worry. i was just very unfortunate. lol the condition is called myocarditus. mine was treated with a heart pump called the heartmate II LVAD (left ventricular asist device) which was newly developed. lucky for me cuz the old one required you to haul around a suitcase sized machine. i only had a controller that clipped to my waist and 2 batteries in my miniback pack that weighed 10 lbs. i guess you could call me a cyborge at that point in my life. i needed power to live. lol

It's great to see that you're able to joke about your condition now, not everyone is capable of that. You're an awesome person, and I hope nothing bad ever happens to you again.

Why hasn't anybody PM'ed me about Fun Fun yet? You can still contact me even though I'm not well, you know? I'm always willing to do CPs for people. Besides, Fun Fun is such an awesome color.

Good to hear that, Winnie. Take regular meals, and like what the rest said, avoid greasy, fatty, spicy food and carbonated drinks and don't overeat. Don't worry, you can still take the yummy food once in a while once. I can't wait to wear Fun Fun but I am saving it for a special day to wear it for the first time, but I don't know when.

I have acid reflux too and mine is very severe so the chewable antacids are too weak for me. Besides the regular abdominal pains, I especially hate the chest and back pain. I guess my condition is more complicated because I removed my gall bladder, but the doctor always says that has nothing to do with acid reflux.
