That is what I was thinking- I mean, I can hardly even see it on her eyes! I might just get a few- as I am thinking of using the Lovestone for blush anyway, but these seem to be quite sheer and I don't want to have to mess with them to get them to show up, KWIM?:confused::confused:

The other shadows I'm sure I can find regular shadow dupes of... and I found the duo's too sheer last year anyway, so I won't get anything besides Lovestone. Well, maybe Mercurial.

As for the msfs... the peachy one reminds me of a frosty Glissade (i.e. less sparkles, more pigment), maybe a bit paler... the other two seem too much like Shooting Star and Shimpagne for me to slurge on.

Actually I was thinking that the gold one looks like the Gold Deposit that was one of the first MSF ever to come out.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not really digging the way she applied the colors. From some of the other swatches they don't seem to be so washed out looking.

Another reason I have not totally written these off yet.

Mercurial looks like it would make a cool blush, but I agree with what others have said, the color payoff isn't great, but I guess the texture is shiny, and you could wash it over other shadows for a different effect.

I am just not sure about the vanish quotient that these will have.

In some photos, they look quite pigmented and in others they look very sheer and chunky.

I hate to miss out on some great colors, but more than that, I hate to be stuck with something I hate- esp when money is THAT tight with us as it is this year.

Re: Flashtronic

I got to see most of the products swatches on paper and global glow looks a lot like gold deposit (from the swatches I have seen of G.D since I do not have it) and it is definitely the swatch on the far right finger in the pic. Northern lights looks nice...though maybe a little light for me and for some reason the gold spill msf was not there.

Mercurial and Lovestone look like they will make awesome blushes so that is what I plan on buying them for.

So so far my list is 2 MSF's, 2 MES, and a lipglass....er...or two.

I think it all depends on what you use as your base. I don't think she used anything as a primer on her eyes, but I could be wrong....I hope I'm wrong. I have been really excited and waiting forever(ok maybe a month)for this collection for it not to have a great payoff.

Okay, today's million dollar question is- are the lipsticks like sunmetal in finish ,or are they just typical MAC lipsticks?

I want metal finish like sunmetal. If not, I can pass on those too.

And I plan to use them as blush too- not sure about mercurial yet. Looks so splotchy on the swatches that I am just not sure.

Thanks for the insight on the MSF though. That helps me a LOT.

Not when it comes to MAC- I have a problem with most regular MAC shadows vanishing on me in under an hour- no matter what base I use.

I can put them on next to OLD MAC shadows or other pigments or shadows and they will all still be there but the MAC shadow will be completely gone- like Waternymph was like that- I could BLOW it off my skin.

The mineralized skinfinish and the one shadow I got long ago all work fine on my eyes- esp wet. So, if they are like that, then I will like them, but if they are really glitterish (like some of the petticoat veins are) then I probably won't like them.

D'oh I never even asked the see the Rushmetal swatches!! I will ask to take a look on Friday when I go to buy the novel twist stuff.

I was so surprised she actually showed me anything at all.

I did see the lipglasses and they are pretty much the way they look on the Korean website swatches. Electro Lush looks hot like it could work on a lot of different skin tones and the others were not memorable to me.

Oh, I would be SO thankful to you if you could see the lipstick swatches. If I can cut those off my list, that would be a BIG help.

My hardest problem is trying to decide if I want to take the plunge with the Flashtronic shadows, it is such a gamble to me. The pigments from Rushmetal- I am pretty set on those. I love metallic pigments so I will probably be happy with the 6 that I want.

I already have Copper Sparkle and Night Light so I plan on skipping Copperized and Rushmetal. THAT will save some $ - why have dupes- or close to it?

I have every MSF that ever came out, so it will be hard to pass on these, but the peach one looks so much like Glissade I think it would be dumb to get another one- I have two of those.

As for the other two- the Goldish one looks like it might be a hint cooler than Gold Deposit which has an orangey-brassy tone to it. This one looks like it might be a little cooler than that one, but photos twist perceptions of color so much that it is hard to know for sure.

Yeah, which mine definitely is right now. I need to pare down all that I can from my list.

Although it will be hard to let go of having EVERY MSF ever released, it will be freeing in a way. Then perhaps I can let go of this collecting obsession I have developed for MAC.

I ignored the pigments at Christmas time which was a BIG first for me- I had been getting every single pigment for years, but it was kind freeing.

It is stupid to get so obsessed that you are willing to go without stuff just to collect makeup that you probably will never get to use it all up anyway and someone else will end up getting it anyway.

If the lipsticks are not metallic like Sunmetal, then that will free me up a lot too.

I think I might just go for one MSF, if even that- heck, I have all of them anyway- Once I get doing more makeup jobs again, I can have more $ to buy more MU. Right now, jobs are very spotty and we have been going through so much that I had to slow way down.

If it is not really special then I can not see collecting it anyway- esp if I don't end up using it.

(I just hope I don't cave when the release day comes)

Yeah, the light blue one looks to be the one with the least amount of color payoff anyway... From the swatches below the FOTD pictures, at least 3 of them seem to have a good amount of payoff.... I know I definately want the raspberry one, and the others I won't know about until I see them in person.

In reading posts here, MUA and LJ, I have found out the following that may cut down your list a bit...

1. One of the listicks, Frenzy, is in the permanent line, so you could get that at any time.
2. While you have cut your Rushmetal pigment list to 6 to avoid dupes, Quick Frost seems to be very similar to White Gold, just a little finer.
3. Supposedly, Northern Light (which some may be worried looks like Glissade) is totally different than Glissade. The color payoff is much better, and apparently, it's not as gritty as Glissade is.

HTH a little!

I agree. After looking at gold deposit swatches on the skin global glow is less brassy/orangey.

Oh that helps a LOT! Thank you.

As long as the lipsticks are not metallic like Sunmetal, I will most likely cut them out anyway- I can get lipstick any time. I just love metallic and it is so rare to find a good one like the texture of sunmetal that I was hoping Rushmetal would be like that too.

The probably aren't.

If you learn any more about them, let me know, OK?

Thanks so much - I truly appreciate it!

At least I know that I can cut out Frenzy and the jury is still out on the MSFs. I might end up with all of them anyway.
greengrin.gif

Once I have the shadows figured out, then that will be it for me. I can not tell you how thankful I am for all of you who can be my eyes and ears on this stuff. I hate not having any MAC near us.

It is SO much easier when I can see it in person.

When I was on vacation and got to see Moonbathe, I expected to hate it, but then when I saw the lipsticks in person- I WENT NUTS.

The only one that I am probably not going to use a WHOLE lot is the really dark matte one- Eclipse. But then again, who knows?

I noticed a lot of people wear their make-up very sheer. So the color payoff may be better when you apply it.
