So glad that I saw this. Happy birthday Debbs! I hope you had/have plans to celebrate. Btw, I'm loving your new avi. You look beautiful and radiant!
Thanks ladies!!! It's only natural and befitting that my "bday party" so to speak is held in this thread as all GCs and late gifts will be applying to Heirloom. I really felt nice and good with the love shown to me here. The family atmosphere helps when real life gets too tough and challenging. Thanks again everyone. Love y'all xoxoxoxo :bouquet:

Happy Birthday, @Debbs! I'm so far behind in reading posts that I just saw this. I hope you had a great day.

I'm no longer sure if I want Sparks of Romance lipstick.  Should I get it or should I not?
You probably have something similar already. That's the same question I've been asking myself about Salon Rouge. As much as I like the thought of buying a holiday lippie in special packaging, the lipsticks in this collection are kinda a let down for me. It's like mac is putting out the same reds again and again.

Our very own [@]BrainsAndBeauty[/@] reviewed it. It is sold as a Matte lipstick via box. Sadly it has no shimmer or frosty quality. It is a standard matte red lipstick.

I tested part of the Colour Collection in my local MAC store today.

The original and second run Pressed Pigments were very hard and dry and serious glitter bombs. Some sort of glitter-grabbing base was/is absolutely necessary to wear them.

I didn't put these new ones on my eyes, just my inner arm, but they really have a different feel. They are much creamier than previous releases, and seemed a bit less fallout prone - altho they will still probably need some sort of eye lid base to hang onto the fine sparkle. I had a list of 5 that i wanted test and i ended up getting one i wasn't even going to test - Modern Majesty (brown w/green pearl) - and one i thought i wouldn't like - Regal Affair (white w/gold sheen). I also ordered Nostalgic and Victorian Plum, and i skipped a couple i thought i wanted.

I rather liked Gentrified Fluidline. It's a bit on the lighter side - a slightly plummy medium brown with warm metallic shimmer - so it'll probably be good for people with light hair and/or light eyes. It may not show up much on darker skin, so I recommend testing.

I didn't test and barely glanced at the lipsticks, lip glosses, and blushes.

I got to look at - but not test - the Objects of Affection pigment & glitter sets. I'm skipping the Blue set since dark blues are really not my eye colors. The Gold set is really stunning, but i think i'll skip it, since i have Lithe pigment and some other gold pigments and glitters. I'm leaning toward the Pink/Red set, but not fully decided. I think my local MAC will allow testing next week when i pick up my Colour Collection stuff & Plum eye palette.

Ok welp I'm putting a few things on my wish list for Christmas gifts but after the sephora and urban decay orders I placed this week I cannot morally buy any more makeup until at least the new year

Thanks for the shout out, Dolly! Here's some swatch spam from my Instagram for you ladies & gents:

M•A•C Heirloom Mix Lipstick in "Sparks of Romance" is described as a matte frost red with gold shimmer. The description sounds so promising; however, I'm sad to say that it is simply a matte, red lipstick. There is no frost. The shimmer is ridiculously subtle. You can only kind of see it if you stick your face right up to it. Am I disappointed? Absolutely not! It's still a beautiful lipstick. The description is simply misleading. Matte lipstick lovers will want to add this to their collection.

M•A•C Heirloom Mix Pressed Pigment in "Enchantment" is described as a violet with blue violet sparkles. It's definitely difficult to capture how pretty this really is with my iPhone. Pressed pigments can be a little tricky to work with. It's better if you think of them not as eyeshadows but, well... pigments. This swatches terribly with my finger. A dry eyeshadow brush was only slightly better. When I scraped a little off, mixed it with Fix+ and applied it with a damp eyeshadow brush, I achieved a nice foiled look. I found it actually applied best to my lids using just my finger. I totally overthought it. Using just my finger to apply the pressed pigment to my lid allowed it to be just as pigmented as it is in the pan! People who enjoy sheer eyeshadow looks will like this item. People who don't want to work for their pigmentation or use their fingers, steer clear!

Thank you so much BrainsandBeauty for providing the swatch of SoR. I am a bit saddened it didn't have any sparkle in it because that was the reason why I was a little more interested in it. Oh well. If you have any other MAC reds (or red lipsticks in general) do you know which ones SoR compares to?

Hey, Mizani! Thanks! I'm glad you like the picks. The majority of my MAC lipsticks are from limited edition collections so I don't know off the top of my head. I'll try to post a swatch pic comparing all of my MAC reds sometime tomorrow.

That's great to hear, the pressed pigments are the main thing I'm wanting from this collection so I'm glad they won't be too much of a pain to work with.

Thanks for the swatch! Sad it isn't a Matte Frost but I think I'll get it anyway, it looks pretty. Maybe I'll try mixing it with Playland to get some of that promised gold shimmer in there.

Oh thank you thank you thank you! That would be much appreciated if you can!

Also, does SoR lean warm or cool toned to you?
