MAC - In the Groove Discussion

So I just came home after seeing the collection at my local MAC store. I know that many people are excited about this but personally I found it one of the most boring collection MAC has ever made (and I generally like mineralized products)...but that's only my personal opinion

So boring that I only got Stereo Rose and B2M for All Styled Up l/s. I chose to spend my money on 4 Chromagraphic pencils and one perm Cremesheen l/g instead. And that's something that never happens when a new collection is out

Here are my thoughts about it:
The blushes were OK. I love MBs but I found most of them (except for Hang Loose and Happy together) quite dark for me (I'm around NC20). Yes, they could be used with a light hand but I don't think they were special enough to bother with them.
I already have most of the MSFs so the only one I was interested in was Stereo Rose and didn't pay much attention to the rest. (I will post swatches of them later)
The 2 l/s I was interested in (Go For It & I Like It Like That) were sold out so I only got All Styled Up, which is a nice pink but nothing groundbreaking either.
The MES looked nice and smooth when swatched but they too were nothing exciting. I (and probably anyone who is into MU for quite some time) probably have several similar colors already.
The Cremesheen l/g were well...like the usual Cremesheen l/g. Nothing stood out as well.

I know that my review was not at all helpful but I found the whole collection very uninspiring and passable (and it's very rare for me to say that for a MAC collection, especially the big ones). Maybe it's because MAC has put out many mineralized products recently but seriously, I don't think there are any must-have products (except maybe from By Candlelight which I already have and Stereo Rose, which I haven't tried yet). I'm not complaining..more money to spend on the new collections

On the other hand and out of topic, the Chromagraphic pencils look amazing. I haven't tested them for wear but the colors are incredibly rich and vibrant

So...

I decided to go to my nearest counter, knowing that it'd be quiet *hehe* and played about with the collection.

I tried on Stereo Rose and it had my pores screaming back at me!!! So that clearly was a FAIL!!! ***Oooh and then the MA thought it'd be erm cool to put New Vibe on top!!!

Anyhows, aside from that I did have a nice chat with another MA there and left with By Candlelight, Go For It and Chillin'.

Hopefully my dear little brother will loan me his camera so I can upload a pic of Go For It with Chillin' on top at some point today!

Overall the collection was mehh to me. I anticipated purchasing 'Togetherness' however I only loved the purple shade, thought i'd love the grey too but it wasn't all that pigmented to me, so I gave it a miss seen as there are sooo many purple shades rolling out this F/W10.

OK I need your help... i went yesterday and placed my pre-order and as usual got home and felt super guilty about the money i was going to spend

I did some serious damage with this collection and I love it! I got all the lippies except Creme d'Nude. I actually got a back up of Go For It - that lipstick is just too pretty for words and so wearable. I got 2 Stereo Roses, 4 cremesheen glasses, Band of Roses MB and Togetherness MES. I was dead set against buying any MES but these ones seem different - less smudgy and more pigmented. The purple colour in Togetherness is awesome!

I think Jazzed will still be available, not sure about By Candlelight but it did only come out first time in January so hopefully it will still be there!

Now that sounds like a fun haul! I've decided that I'm leaving it to fate if I get backs ups for petticoat and stereo rose, if when I'm in florida it's not sold out then I should, if it is I mustn't need it

I totally agree. I have felt that way about most collections recently. But that's OK, i'm biding my time until Venomous Villains

My total for this col. was £17.50, I got Hang Loose (i'm NC15 so it's ok). However I got a 242 & another 239 brush, too. Been meaning to for ages.

I got 8 MES (already had Style Influencer), all the blushes, Stereo Rose, 3 lipsticks and 5 Superglasses. Without the Superglasses it's £264.50 (plus £10.25 for Style Influencer that I bought on eBay). Either way - A LOT!

But I am very happy, so it's all money well spent.

Will post pictures and swatches later.

Thats one heck of a haul I'm in love with this collection too! Can't wait till its released in the US.

Last summer they costed 29 euros!!! Damn taxes!!!!!

And now that I calculated it, since last year's 19% tax till today that is 23% it should be raised only 1 euro, not 4!!!

I have compared my two and the new one is a bit lighter and less pink (it could be just my two, other two might be more similar), but the difference isn't huge, so if I didn't have the old one, I'd be happy with the new one, it's 98% similar. Texture and finish are the same. I have posted some pictures on the swatch thread, hope it helps.

great swatches! to me they look exactly the same so i am happy

I got my Stereo Rose today and OMG it feels so much different than the original! It swatches a lot more smooth and the colour payoff is incredible. The colour is similar, but since the payoff is a lot creamier and richer, it can look different. I realize mineral products can possibly go bad after awhile, but there is such a huge difference between the two IMO. Definately need a lighter hand to use the repromote!

Oh - and I picked this up at the PRO store today because they launch a week early. I got the last one. They sold out within half an hour of the store opening and most were on hold yesterday by phone.

Yikes!
