MAC - In the Groove Discussion

Soooooo, I have just looked at all the swatches of Stereo Rose in the swatch thread, and.............meh. Am I the only one underwhelmed? I don't feel like I am missing out at all, but then I am not super keen on MSFs in general. Most of them are too metallic for my taste.

But damn, there is some serious Stereo Rose fever going on! Good luck to everyone on getting one if it is on your list.

And congrats to those who have already scored one (or more).

But honestly now I know the hype about Stereo Rose. I go from NC25 up to NC35/40 in the summer. I'm dead smack in the middle at the moment as NC30 and it gives off such a glow in the cheeks. It's like...a inner glow. Damn you MAC

I think Happy Together is very pigmented, not sheer at all! Anyway, both of those blushes are beautiful and will most definately work with your skintone.

I might go back for Band Of Roses, I don't have a dupe for it in my collection. I'd keep both!

On 7/6 I placed my order for SR at about 8:40 EST on the MAC website. After hearing that everyone was getting backorder notices (I never got one). I started to panic. So, on 7/7 I called my local F/S see if they had it because I wanted to pick it up the next day. Well, the MUA said she would pre-sell it to me and I could come and pick up that day. I ran down to the store and got SR and a few other items. Now, on 7/8 I just got my shipping confirmation with SR on it. So, I guess now I will have two.

But, after all the hype I'm a little disappointed. I'm an NC50 and find that it barely shows up on my skin. I thought it would be darker. I plan on playing with it some more. If I can't get it to work I might sell or swap my second one. I have Band of Roses coming in my online order and I'm really excited about that. I swapped it in the store and I think it looks beautiful on darker skin tones.

I can't wait to hear what you decide. I'm an NC20 too and was looking at both of those this morning. I'd like to go back for one of them.
I bought Togetherness too! The grey in it is so beautiful

There was no kind of hype whatsoever in Atlanta. I was the first person in the store and I tried on the entire collection. I was in there for an hour and half one woman came in for SR and all the other people who came in never even glanced at ITG. The phone was ringing off the hook for Alice and Olivia. I tried SR and didn't like it. Band of roses is the best thing in the collection in my opinion.

Please fogive me if this has been answered already but why is MAC sending out such little product to the stores? Ex: SR and Marine Life. They could make a fortune. Maybe they think since they already are making a fortune that this just makes those products so much more special and coveted. It's like a cult. Oh well, maybe I just answered my own question!

It is, isn't it? I love me some purple and grey!

Maybe I'll follow PinkBasset's suggestions and really keep both. Happy Together seemed to be like By Candlelight on me. I'll get them tomorrow or on Saturday, because I first ordered them and then went to the store to swatch. I'll hopefully have made up my mind untill then!
Band of Roses has such a pretty colour and Happy together seems so versatile... Decisions, decisions!

Jazzed by itself is very nice too. I got pigmented lips and it nicely neutralized it to a peachy/coral colour. Bahh...hard to explain lolz ... just go check out the swatch thread if you don't understand my rambling LOLZ

I just got back with my haul!

I got Stereo Rose, Love to Love, band of roses and go for it l/s. I'm in a pretty small, sleepy area so if anyone wants me to CP Stereo Rose let me know. I can check if they still have more. Marine Life didn't sell out here until sunday afternoon, so you never know. I love Go for it l/s, the MA used vino lip liner and it was awesome!! She didn't know anything about the stereo rose hype either. She also managed to talk me out of petticoat, she says she doesn't understand why anyone would have more than one of the MSFs. She doesn't like them much. I may go back and if it is still there I will get it too!
ETA: I just got back with the last Stereo Rose, cp for a lovely specktra lady!!

Works on me, but then again I'm between NC45 and NC50. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I honestly don't think MAC knew about all the hype. The MUA's were counting the stock when I walked in and I heard the why do we only have 8 stereo roses and a million of everything else.

I never thought about comparing HT with Candlelight. Maybe I can layer that over some brozer for a similar look. Hmmmm.....

I got the last Petticoat and of course Stereo Rose sold out. My MAC counter only recieved 3 and one was for tester

. Of course the person taking my order (hold) messed up and didnt include it. So, by the time i went there it was sold out ! I ended up getting Petticoat and By Candlelight. I did test Stereo Rose and it reminded me so much of Marine Life (which ive got), so i dont think ill be missing out as much.

The only thing that does bother me is that they contain Isopropyl Palmitate which is a BIG pore clogging irritant :/

I'm thinking in the stores where they 'only got 2 Stereo Roses' the MUA's have probably snapped them up already!
