MAC & Marcel Wanders - Luxe Couture Discussion

I don't know if it will be the same this year but the brushes from the couture collections are usually exquisitely soft, much MUCH moreso than the corresponding regular ones. I have the 129 with the silver handle from a few years ago and there is just no comparison with the regular 129. BUT...I don't think I'll be spending $75 for another 187. Hoping it makes it to my CCO!

i love, love, love my stylistics 129 brush (silver handled couture brush). it really is just so much better than the 'normal' one. i wonder how that would translate to an improved 187 though...simply making it softer wouldn't necessarily make it better...

The powder compact design is really gorgeous!! Love it!
I'm loving the Martha lipstick! *drool*
The purse clutch is lovely but that lil' face bothers me, lol.
Love(!) the handle of the 187 (a brush I still don't have!) <3

But it doesn't matter what I like, I cannot afford this collection one bit.

I am super curious about Gesina now though. Missed Profusion so this could be good. Plus, I really do like the packaging for this luxe collection better than last year- might as well pick up a few things.

I am getting concerned that MAC's price points are going way over their normal amounts -- the economy worldwide is not great and the disposable income for these items is shrinking.. dunno

to be fair i thought that last year however the couture collection sold out within days in the uk! and that never usually happens! although this year things aren't shifting as well as usual. tyhe majority of TT is still in stock in the uk and i believe that is why they gave us the mini sets early... but none of those have sold out either!

Question for Erin or anyone else who's seen this stuff in person: What do you think of the mascara?

Since the price is the same as the later release I'm thinking I'll grab it with this collection. It'll be tough to beat my current fav mascara, but I'm always willing to try new formulas out and see how they work!

Also, did you guys see the swatch of Gesina with Mary on top? I knew it would be pretty, I have to have that combo!

Yeah, that was stunning. I notice that she did a "budget" version of the same look this morning, but I still prefer the Mac one- it looks juicier. It's definitely making me want Gesina, but we shall see when I meet her in person...

I agree! I prefer the MAC version too. I like that it leans more pink and the overall look is so much glossier. Loving that look, hopefully Gesina will look the same on me. Sometimes these pink-red shades can pull orange or brick red on me, and I'm really hoping for that pink-red pop!

I also think it's interesting (and great!) that these lipsticks have more product in them. I wonder if they're taller tubes than normal?

Good point. And if the different handle is really all that's different I probably won't even buy it in the CCO.

I'm probably crazy but I'm loving the face! Only on the powder, though. The fact that it is randomly on the clutch and hidden among the rest of the print definitely freaks me out. But I do love it on the powder.
