I might even need an interventionist when everything is said and done

It's weird - I used to be pretty brand agnostic and would buy whatever looked freakiest (this is back in the 80's - 90's). The thing is, back then a lot of brands would do 1 outrageous color every collection or so, so you HAD to mix it up. Then that started to change and you started getting brands that would focus on one consistent identity, UD being the rock 'n roll brand, MAC being the perfect neutrals for all races brand (again this is the 90's), Nars for haute couture color, etc. That worked out for a while. Then this also started getting too entrenched at last, and I started seriously getting bored with makeup. The past couple of years, MAC has really turned it around and set out to dominate the high fashion + technology angle. They also are hands down the best at coming up with color stories for each collection that seriously have a theme and direction yet still work for a wide range of people. I respect that so much and am getting a kick out of how the designer brands are having to step up their game now just to (imo) barely compete. When I checked out that D & G collection, my eyes went to the lipstick but then I started assessing the shadows, etc and just found critiques like "oh, nice color but the texture is so old-fashioned and heavy" going through my mind
