I don't think MAC purposely makes limited quantities. There could've been a problem in production and they put what they have out there. When I was at my previous employer they did that all the time with stuff, granted it was clothes and boots. But sometimes they'd only get in ten of a bag and people would scream...but they still bought things. However, they lost money on the products lost. MAC is most likely the same way.

Sadly, I actually think they do vary how much of certain products/colors get manufactured. We've seen this happen way too many times. At the very least, like Naomi was saying, they don't distribute it fairly so lots of times people in smaller cities that do have MAC counters still have to depend on online releases cause they know their counter will be sold out even before the store doors open.

Im not angry or upset for loosing sleep because like others have mentioned Mac never really spoke of this collection and or gave a launch date. All I want is for them to release the promo info and inform us when to expect it, if its November so be it instead of making us a paranoid group of women constantly stalking the site in fear it will realese unexpectedly :/
That's all I want from them as well and I really don't think it's so much to ask either.

Right?! One of the worst sayings that comes to mind is the term, "There's more than one way to skin a cat." That's so awful. Some really demented person came up with that one. Their elevator certainly didn't go to the top floor! Speaking of cats ...

... it's my kitty collage!
Agreed! Some of these old sayings just make a person  and back away slowly. Cute kitty collage!

My SA just texted me. The latest is it has now been pushed back to the 18th. Of course, it's hard to say what information is accurate as MAC changes it's mind almost as often as I change my underwear (daily, if you really wanted to know, lol!). I will say this though, my SAs have always provided me with the most current information and IIRC, it's been correct at least 98% of the time . They've been terrific to me so I trust them.

Thank you babe and thank you to your friend :)

Exactly. This is why I feel so strongly that MAC needs to improve their communication to both customers and employees. I think a lot of the employees get a bad rap for not having the information or giving conflicting info, but it happens so often that I think it's usually not their fault. It seems more like a lack of communication behind the scenes from the higher ups.
Very well stated.

It sounds plausible so I will buy it.

I just did a live chat and this is what I was told: Lisa: We anticipate it to launch in November. Regrettably we do not have a confirmed date at this time.
Who knows what to make of all of this, but I heard from my favorate MAC lady that she read in Bloom Street yesterda, that Nasty Gal has laid off 27 people and is doing a restructure of her business. BTW, if you look at the Glass Door reviews (emplyoees), it sounds like a pretty carppy place to work. Hmm, even if the collection does drop, I am not wanting to inadevertly support a business that does not appreciate their employees. I wonder if MAC doesn't want to be associated with all of this press. It makes one wonder as well, if MAC has put the brakes on this collection for a bit until they can determine if they want to push forward or just scrap the whole idea. They could always do a slight reformulation, change the names, then slap it into another collection.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I'm sure that is why the collection isn't released at this time.

Interesting. I can understand MAC deciding to drop 'em like a hot potato, after all that terrible press from Rodarte, if this is actually what's up behind the scenes.

Very good point.

 Well that's going to make for some reading later. Just like with Illamasqua it's interesting to see these companies make really great strides forward and then have to retreat 10 paces . I hope that she hasn't forgotten where she came from as a company and mistreated her employees or customers. A MAC collection would have been huge for her brand but it sounds like there's some trouble behind the scenes.

What happened with Illamasqua??

They were supposed to be expanding in the US after ending their association with Sephora and forming a new partnership with Bloomingdales which included counters in their stores and an online presence on their website. They went on the website and started to spread onto counters inside Bloomies but in a relatively short time after it was announced they were removed from the website without any warning and the counters were shut down. For me it was literally the difference of buying a brush on Bloomingdales one week from them and Bloomingdales having no clue what 'Illamasqua' was even when I entered it into their search bar. The rumor was they expanded too much too fast which seem to be what the word is with Nasty Gal according to a couple different websites where employees and anonymous tipsters are revealing information. You always want to take things with a grain of salt since it could be false but there seems to be a consensus that Nasty Gal is in financial trouble and the boss isn't able to keep the company afloat because of poor business practices, not appreciating employees, and wasting money on frivolous expenditures. MAC didn't stop working with Riri in spite of all her bad actions so who knows if the collection being delayed is actually connected to Nasty Gal's issues.

In the two Bloomingdales in NYC, they still have the Illamasqua counters, I wonder if they will close them as well?
