Some positive movement on this - the lipsticks have finally been allocated SKUs in the online product catalogue. So the 16th seems like it could be the real date, despite still no publicity.

Lol Mac and Nastygal is probably like, we don't need publicity, this will sell out in minutes cuz we've been sending out #GirlBoss to every blogger alive.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. But I know for sure that I will not support any company that'll give pregnant women the sack for no reason at all

Oh wow, seeing more movement in the right direction does seem promising. I might only wind up getting the burgundy lipstick now. Can somebody repost the link? I still wish we could get some swatches. I do remember somebody earlier in this thread saying they had heard that these colors aren't anything to write home about. That's one of the reasons why I might not get the red then. Already going to get Kinky anyways.

For the ladies that won't support Nasty Gal, I do commend you for sticking by your principles. :)

I couldn't imagine being pregnant and getting laid off. I have a great job with great pay and benefits, and while I was pregnant I was still flipping out about being able to provide. Pregnancy just makes you worrisome!

We've had a lot of tribunals here in the UK in regards to women losing their jobs because they were expecting, they won of course. It's just ridiculous that some companies cannot hack a woman starting a family and working on her career at the same time

Right! Now I had a manager at my old company that was based in the UK, they were getting 10 months maternity leave and she had two kids almost back to back. Most companies in the US give 6 weeks, some give 12 weeks.

Same thing over here, I was on a contract at a local authority, the person I was covering for just came back from maternity and announced that she was pregnant again within a space of 8 weeks of returning. The government are looking to extend maternity leave to roughly a year, us Brits should consider ourselves lucky over the amount of maternity leave we're entitled.

UPS laid off at least one pregnant woman. She asked for light duty, which meant not lifting anything over 20 lbs. So they sacked her, and no more health insurance. IIRC, this case is going to the Supreme Court. That means her case is not just one lone cranky woman, but a case with significance for a larger population. (and i beat she isn't the only pregnant woman UPS laid off)

Are we going to boycott UPS? No more black boxes? And UPS isn't hurting for money...

Exceedingly lucky, its very difficult to be a woman in a position without power. A lot of the examples you mentioned are essentially what goes through a company's mind when they even think of hiring a woman. The assumption she'll become a money and benefits suck (for companies already making millions) so why bother giving her a lucrative position, why bother promoting her, why bother making her a public face for the company?

Its very sad. Women basically have to deny their own desires for a child and pretend to be unfeeling robots so that they can get the same opportunities and positions freely given to men.

I wish those ladies luck, I don't know if they have any kind of lawsuit against NastyGal but it wouldn't be the first time a company head grinned and pretended everything was awesome while the lowly employees suffered.

I highly doubt they have a legal case. They weren't fired for being pregnant (short of any evidence to the contrary), they weren't the only women fired, and I'm sure other pregnant women were left on staff.

Indeed. Hopefully they've found other employment that can fill the gap, its a rough time to be without steady employment or at least a position to return to. I wish them luck.

Not sure where you're going with this question. Are you implying that because people don't boycott UPS, they shouldn't boycott Nasty Girl if they choose? This is even assuming that everyone knew this information to start with. I don't see the point of your question.
