MAC Playland Collection - April 7, 2014

Well now- just a little curious...upon closer look ...does this look to anyone else that her top lip is a different color to her bottom lip? Is this the "mixture"- the way Candice Chen of MakeupboxBlog.blogspot.com loves to sport two tone lipstick- (evinced in her profile pic)? - or is it just shadow shading.  If this might be true- which lip-top or bottom do you think is CANDY YUM YUM? I would love a smooth amplified version of a yet bluer fuchsia -albeit equally vibrant -CYY!   Thoughts?

I think it's just a shadow, cuz they look pretty damn close to being the same colour to me.

They're my second fave finish!

Totally forgot Gaga 2 was amplified. But I never really wrote it cause it was a horrible color on me. Wow the formula sounds divine! Let's hope these are like show orchid :nods:

Singer82- I find AMplifieds to be one of the most opulent, plush feeling/looking lipstick finishes out there.  Unlike YSL -which I find to have to much slip- AMplifieds have a fabulous tuggless glide application- with crazy opacity with one swipe! Ibia- i also know what you mean, though, where- some Amplifieds - like Show Orchid -apply like emollient, comforting, smooth, chubby crayon lipsticks- while others, like  MAC's VIVA GLAM GAGA 2 tend to hug lips with an all  too snug, thickness- wearing off somewhat  patchily. I must say though- overall, throughout the brand- amplifieds give gals with richly pigmented lips some of the best/longest wearing coverage out there!

I've actually never owned an amplified. The formula is why I'm interested in these. What don't you like about them?

You don't have Watch Me Simmer? That's an Amplified. So is Petals & Peacocks. They're very pigmented, but they're also quite creamy/glossy - so instead of a stained glass type of finish or something translucent where your natural lip color comes into play, they cover up your lip color. The thing I'm picky about is I prefer really dense, bright color with a more subdued, less glossy finish usually, like a Satin or Matte. Bright + shiny for me needs to be just the right shade or it looks like clown lips on me. It's why I didn't get a lot of the Mineralize lipsticks - same sort of finish and a lot of those colors were very bright. With a cremesheen, I can at least sort of pat the color into my lips or blot it down, but I've found some Amplifieds to not blot down or pat in very well, also because of their creaminess. You just have to slather them on and stop traffic big time.

I know the exact reasons why I'm a little careful with Amplifieds is exactly why others LOVE them. It's definitely a personal preference with me.Of course, since we've gotten such great improvements with the latest Lustres in FoF, it could be these new Amplifieds will be even better than in the past and will be more workable in a variety of ways. If so, I'll definitely be into them. I actually wore Watch Me Simmer for a little bit today in preparation for this collection, just in case there's a color here that'll be similar. That one's just on the edge of clown lips for me, but it really is an awesome color, so I do what I can to make it work!

I'm not convinced yet - Amplifieds are a finish I'm a little picky about. I love the look of Playland lipstick though and the red frost. This isn't going to be a jumbo haul for me.

It's going to be a small haul for me as well and maybe even an entire skip! I am interested in Toying Around and Head in the Clouds but not sure if I want them yet.

I love Amplifieds. One of my favorites. That was my very first finish when I got into MAC and I have been praying for more to come out.

The buttercup yellow is the one from FoF. This is a different yellow.

OK so are u saying that the Mineralize lipsticks are similar to Amplifieds?? i have never bought one and since the current colors are disc. and i want to snag a few im curious if its worth it. i love Amplifieds

They're a touch sheerer, but the finish is quite similar. Different formula, though - more moisturizing than Amplified.

thanku i will grab devine choice or lady at play. i wonder if the new ones will be different in texture. i love moisturizing. i just always seem to be worried about getting the next le collections so i never get around to get all the perm items i want lol. and now there coming out with new ones already i never got one of the first round.

I will snag it with the next MAC order if it isn't OOS then. I was kind of disappointed it wasn't really like the original Lily White. Also, it is harder for me to love the new pigments b/c the jar is smaller which is silly, because i would never use a whole jar anyway but the principle of the thing is hard to take

I hate the new jars too, but there really isn't that much difference in the quantity of pigment. Same with the glitters.

Me too! I love Amplifieds, Mattes (and Retro Mattes) and Satin! Anything under that category is a must buy!

I think Cremesheen. They're more close to cremesheens. I love Mineralize Rich lipsticks! Too bad i wasn't able to get all of them.

I also like Cremesheens as well. I better get some of the Mineralize lipsticks before there gone. theres a few colors i really like. the new ones look great too. im sure they will be more money tho lol

I'm not really sure if ill get anything from this one. its still fairly early to decide but it doesn't feel like they are doing anything new, although AC is arguably one of the best finishes/ texture for the lippies. I'm not as excited as i was before. maybe with more info in the coming weeks ill change my mind. but in the mean time i will be going back to the permanent collection and getting those pretty goodies that have been over looked with the limited edition roller coaster ride. on another note anything you ladies think are must haves from the perm collection??
