truth is, I would not PAY for these if I wanted them.. they are just not outstanding imo. Nice but no big cuban cigars.

Oh reeeeewwwlllyyy !? I'm on the fence on several. I have a lot of brights and I do wear them all the time but I'm such a snob with the finishes and wether they're patchy or not... And I was getting too spoiled with going to try these before they were out for sale... They're keeping tighter lids on these collections and idk how I feel with having to buy these blind through online since at the stores everything apparently sells out at zero dark thirty hours..... And I'm not the returning type.. So do I take a chance ?....

I would NOT buy these without seeing them. The finish is pretty glossy and they're bright and the combination is a real love-it-or-leave-it affair, especially if you have the colors they are similar to in matte or satin already and prefer that. Also, personally I think the lipstick colors wake up a lot with one of the glosses on top, so you might find yourself buying gloss too, if you're not 100% with the colors on their own.

I don't love amplified all the time and feel like these colors work with the finish better than you sometimes get. I didn't find them patchy, but they don't really blot down effectively. You have to be good with shiny and bright together. It's a certain kind of look (very loud and retro-slutty 1995) so again, I wouldn't buy on impulse online. I just watched Paris is Burning for the first time in years and one of the drag queens was wearing a screaming bright and glossy coral lipstick and I immediately thought of this collection, lol. Gotta be ready for the realness, hehe.

Why you had to say retro slutty 1995. Why. Now I want! All joking aside, the problem lately is that these new collections sell out. People go and buy 3 of each without even trying them on. By lunch hour they're gone and I never tried them on. So lately if I want anything I have to take a guess and get it online and hope for the best. So far the only disappointment has been the talk that talk liner and I sold it here afterwards... So with that said, I love brights, I've managed to pull cYY for big corporate meetings and the sort... I'm eyeing the eye searing one (happy go lucky?) and toying around. So liba 8f you're telling me that the quality of them is good, I should be fine. I don't want to deal with a fussy lippy so Playland is out of the question. I can line with yellow chromagraphic and layer with gold lippys and pigment if I want to go for the retro look... But the other two seem like two fun options. I can wait for the glosses to hit stores, I notice those last longer on counters... I actually haven't even stopped to analyze these glosses yet anyway so.. Back to the first page to do my homework on these

Think I'm considering Sweet Experience in place of Toying Around. I was hoping it was more pinky coral. Thoughts?

Still coming out in stores on the 17th right? That's the only day I have off so I'll be able to go to the store and try everything.

What does retro-slutty 1995 look like? Just really in your face bright?

My MAC birdie told me that Toying Around and Impassioned is the EXACT same color just Impassioned is a Lustre or whatever finish it is....

She told me they were swatching it today and its close...
Maybe on a hand swatch on deep toned skin, but Impassioned has MUCH more pink in it than Toying Around. If you're very dark toned, I could see TA pulling more pink overall, but it's not a formula that's going to blend with your natural lip color, just reflect off the skin tone of the face, if it's going to change its cast at all. If anything, Red Balloon is more related to Impassioned, but honestly, there isn't an Impassioned clone in this collection (unlike so many other collections, lol), just possibly a color that might pull similarly on some people. I'm doubting it's going to run pink or red on most people - it's coral.

Bright and very glossy. You could say garish.

I tried to find the right still from the movie, but I couldn't, so enjoy this instead:

Damn, that hair flip, the look in her eyes, the attitude...if I can feel 50% like that from the lipsticks in this collection I'll take two of everything

I'm happy for the pushback, I'm just worried I'll miss it for one reason or another. That's the one thing about MAC, they don't give us much information and tend to release things at wonky hours. So when I see something go from 'The 7th' 'to 'Ehhhhh maybe in 2 weeks?' I get nervous.

I am happy though, April was so congested as far as buying stuff with Sephora's sale and MAC's monument of collections.

That is one thing that really throws me off. 9:30 am, 12:23 pm, never anything the same. which makes all us crazy people do things like stalk, set phone alarms (yes, yes I have done this plenty of times),etc. Such a pain in the buns. CMON MAC PLEASE GET THE TIMING RIGHT AT LEAST.
