MAC Playland Collection - April 7, 2014

just quickly for now, Toying Around, especially with Live IT Up on top, IS the amplified second coming of Toxic Tale. It's gorgeousness incarnate. Doesn't give clown lips like Watch Me Simmer, Ablaze and others that have more white in them.

Happy Go Lucky is like the amplified Candy Yum Yum, especially with Carousel on top. I thought I'd be able to resist, but it looks SICK! super duper shiny with the gloss - it's rather whorish, to tell the truth, but in an awesome way. You need major attitude with this combo. If you have green eyes, probably shouldn't miss at least checking it out in store.

Sweet Experience is like a brighter, pinker Flamingo but is extra beautiful with Lots of Laughs on top or even Bright Side or both! or Playland on top!!! or Playland plus the glosses!!! or all of the above!!!!!!! I was thinking, oh I have Betty Bright already, but this is Better Bright, especially if you have a gloss or two and can adjust it into just the right shade of coral for your complexion. I think it'll be fine on dark skin tones too, if you are OK with the light lip look, because you can add a little yellow and take away any white chalkiness.

I'll talk more tomorrow, but if you like bright AND shiny, then yep, you will love this stuff. It certainly won me over!

Liba, are you here? Might I ask what your list is for this one? I'm NC15, and would love to hear your recs. My style is usually neutral-with-a-kick.

My sense is that I'd like some of the lipsticks, especially if they are unique AND wearable. I'm always tempted by the pigments. But these pigments look too loud for me--can they be worn with neutrals? Skipping the CC's and pencils for sure.

Thanks for this you guys! I just looked up Joie de Vivre swatches and it is gorgeous! I love the swatches from the blog too so Hi Jinks is a definite for me. As for the lipsticks, I'm trying to decide between Toying Around, Happy-Go-Lucky, and Red Balloon. I swatched all my coral, pink and fuschia lipsticks on my arm to compare to the swatches we have and it looks like the one I have a possible dupe of is Red Balloon, but I love colors like that so I'm not sure. I like the other two but I can't quite make up my mind. Plus I'm trying to save some money for when Proenza comes out (whenever the hell that ends up being). I'll probably just get Hi Jinks and go to the counter for the lipsticks and hope they're still there to swatch.

Why? Just asking, as I'm trying to talk myself out of this collection - haha

besides being pretty much dupeable colors, I don't really use the AC formula. Unless its a completely unique color like lavender lol. Reds, pinks, bright pinks, bright corals are dupeable from mac. I dont use Casual colors either. And the one thing I did want is permanent at mac so I can pick it another time with a diff collection lol.

I recently spotted a Maybelline Summer 2014 display (called Bleached Neons) in my local Christmas Tree Store, and I have just realized how similar these two collections are! Perhaps not in every way, but Maybelline definitely got it spot-on with the color elixir shades and color whispers. One of the lip glosses I picked up was Luxe in Lilac, which looks very close in color to Pure Silliness. There was also a light, warm pinky peach gloss that could be similar to Lots of Laughs, an bright orange one not unlike Live it Up, and so on. So, if any of you are still desperately searching for an excuse to NOT get things from Playland, here's a pretty darn good one if I do say so myself!

I'm not necessarily stalking (then again, I never really do - I can't lose sleep when I work 10 hour days x-x), but I am going to be checking more frequently than usual, at least throughout the next 24 or so hours. If it really doesn't come out tomorrow, then chances of it coming out a random day that isn't the 14th, 15th, or 17th (days that have been mentioned as pushbacks) seem slim to me.

My final list is "Toying Around" and "Sweet Experience." I only have enough money on my card for two lipsticks and those are the two I am most excited for in this collection.

Chanel is better. I would have to swatch them side by side. ALL of the Chanel creme blushes are amazing - nothing compare to the quality
