oh ok!! that makes sense mosha. im gonna do a destination wedding n debating if i wanna just have an mua or do it myself becuz im so meticulous when it comes to my face lol. im like ummm nobody can do it better than ME!!
Oh I know. I just happen to know the mua and trust her enough for it. Otherwise it would've been a Big no lol. Make some practice runs and see how you like it and prepare for it.

I will hire an expert.. I have too many wrinkles to fill and lines go crooked on me.. that said, by the time I do actually ever get married.. again, I might not be able to stand up. so somebody better do it for me..

I do have a lot of the old palettes and only one of the new type. I must say I prefer the look of the new ones, they're shinier and sleeker :p And the single ones have the window to look through. I was searching about the duo ones which was how I ended up in this thread, and I just ordered one with 2 15 inserts from eBay after having searched around on swap sites to no avail.( I live in Norway) I'm glad to see they've reduced the price since they first came out, but boy are eBay prices terrible. I don't remember the price they used to be at on the US site, but I remember thinking there was no way I'd change from the old ones at those prices.

Hopefully I won't have the problems some people have had with shadows falling out of the duo one, since half of them will be upside down. At least I have the inserts, that should solve some of it, right? I'll probably be getting some more single palettes next though, it's nice to have the little window and not worry about the falling out. I'll stay vigilant in the swapping communities. XD

I accumulated a bunch of mac pans some years ago when I first discovered swap/sell communities and found eyeshadows for cheap, sometimes even buying some filled palettes for cheap. I guess it's a fun little project I can do in the future(I'm in the process of moving) to take them all out, clean everything nicely and rearrrange them. The palettes become "dusty" over time, and my careless brother has also knocked some palettes off the shelves breaking some of the shadows

I haven't had any problems with shadows falling out of my double palette. Make sure you use good magnets to help secure them if you're depotting shadows...otherwise getting the refills with the magnet already attached shouldn't have any problems.
I wish I could swap all my palettes out to the old style and label
You can label your shadows in the new palettes also. I used a label maker on a small lettering setting and was able to place the label on the plastic below each shadow. Pretty sure I've posted pics of some of my palettes in here already. Just an option if labeling is your main issue.

When I depotted all my singles a few years ago I took the label off the bottom and stuck it on the round magnet I put on the bottom of the pan. I held a hair dry about 6 inches away and it peeled right off and on to the magnet. I haven't had any come loose.

I bought the new ones when the price dropped and recently switched my e/s over to them. I really like them since I can see without opening it. I hardly ever reached for my old ones, which is sad because I have 9 or 10 either full or mostly fully e/s sitting unused.

Now I have those old ones washed & sitting in a box. I'm hoping to sell them since I won't be using them. I need to take the time to take pics of each one and all that. And it seems such a time consuming thing I keep putting it off.

I wanted the new ones when they first came out. But I thought the price was too high, especially since I had the others. I was so excited when they lowered the price.

Has anyone else who keeps their eyeshadows in the new 15x palettes noticed a texture change in their eyeshadows?
I bought a palette without a divider as soon as they came out and have stored a few shadows in it (mostly MAC & Inglot) and they have developed a hard surface. Could it be happening because there's too much air without a divider? This has never happened to me before, even with the old style palettes.

No I haven't had this happen with any of my shadows. Do you by any chance have oily lids? Sometimes a hardened layer will develop over powder products that have been exposed to oil ("double dipping" can do that) or if you apply your products with a wet brush some shadows can get that layer.

I don't think air could possibly have anything to do with your shadows developing a hard surface and not having a divider isn't going to change anything. It was already mentioned that it happens a lot from oil transferring to your product or using them wet. I used to have that problem sometimes with certain products and I would have to scrape away product. Make sure you wash your brushes very frequently, especially if you have oily skin. Also, it's best not to store makeup in the bathroom if you by chance do that because there is a lot of moisture in there and tons of other nasty stuff.

I credit @erine1881 for this. She posted it in another forum a while ago: http://www.tkbtrading.com. I got it in 2 days, they don't have a queue for orders right now I am guessing.

Eyeshadows are 26 mm, blushes 44 mm.

EDIT: SORRY it's http://www.tkbtrading.com. Misspelled it.

Thank you both for your answers. I wash my brushes very frequently so it can't be that and I store them in my room, away from moisture. But I have very oily lids, so that seems to be the cause. Is there any way I can prevent the hard layer from forming whern double dipping into a pan? Will cleaning with a cosmetic tissue before dipping into the pan again help?

If you have the double palette it should look like this! :) So there's a clear plastic divider in the middle and then you have two inserts on either side like a book. If you have the single palette it looks like mine on the pictures ontop. You just push the inserts in gently :)
