MAC Retro Matte collection (September 12, 2013)

In my opi: other than my precious purchase of FOF and FOD, I just got shock value, dynamo and relentlessly red. Seems like the most unique-ish colors to me. I saw no difference bet fashion boost and magenta, all fired up was pretty but meh too many fucsias for me already, Runway hit is amazing looking just didn't really make my list for being so pale (I did not tan this summer, pasty!) High energy was a nice one too... I might pick that up later on...

Random observation...you'd think that MAC would label these as "Retro Matte" on the tubes to distinguish between those and regular mattes. RiRi Hearts color actually says it on the label of the tubes. Just something I thought about while going through my lippies.

I thought about that but...it's still a little odd. I know the boxes clearly say retro matte but not everyone keeps their boxes or will make a mental note to remember that these set of lipsticks labeled "matte" are actually retro mattes despite what they say. I'm not overly concerned about it because I'm pretty sure I'll remember but I did think it was an interesting omission.

The point you all make is interesting. MAC has always been inconsistent about this labeling. Ruby Woo is a Retro Matte, and I have several tubes, with some saying Retro Matte and some just say Matte. Wonder what that's about.

I went to a Dutch MAC counter today and they said everything was perm, including the lip liners - the website says EVERYTHING of the Retro Matte collection is LE though. Tsk

You can try Cremesheens. They go on sheerer. I think Hang Up is a good one, looks really dark but applies as a berry shade on the lips.

I think I like magenta better than fashion boost now?! Any thoughts... I don't own magenta! So I can't even compare. Is it worth exchanging it??

Yes, close. Just that extra matte texture and finish, and the teensiest bit more brown.

Ahhh!! Thank you so much for this! I cannot wait till I get my shipment. Sadly I won't get it by my bday on Sunday. Cause I would would def rock AFU for the day. Sighhhh. Based on Erine's swatches I now want Dynamo and Shock Value pencils. I plan to BU FB pencil.

Did a quick pic of each lipstick on my lips (except for Fixed on Drama - couldn't fit it in the layout and couldn't find a 7 space layout). The lighting makes RR & AFU look virtually the same on my lips but in person they aren't quite as close. They aren't dramatically different either but they aren't dupes for each other.
