Just got back from Nordtroms. I picked up So This Season lipglass, Hipster and Red Full Stop lipstick as well as the quad. I dare anyone to swatch the quad and not buy it. It's stunning. Not as stunning as photo realism, but it's so versatile. 10 million looks went through my mind while swatching this. Some say if you have deep truth you don't need this quad, etc. I don't have deep truth, but I do have a similar MUFE blue as well as a silver MUFE shadow and that didn't change my mind from the quad.
Red Full Stop is SO amazing. It's my fave lippie by far.I don't know why the word "red" is in it, though. I see no red at all. Looking at the tube, it seems like a coral, pinky color and it applies exactly the way it looks. It's a lustre, but it is more pigmented than most think a lustre can be. It's a fun color that brightens my face. This is what I wanted Costa Chic to be.
Hipster is very pretty, but very dark and very vampy. It's not that I mind that, but I've been in a really bright phase. It's a frost finish and that's very evident. It is very frosty. It goes very nicely with So This Season.
Like I just said So This Season goes very nicely with Hipster. I don't know why, but looking at it I was reminded of On Display, but when I got home and looked at them side by side, they are nothing alike. This gloss is clearly purple. It's quite pretty on it's own. I think I'll wear it that way b/c it can cover the frostiness of Hipster and I really want the frostiness to show sometimes.
The other lipstick (Our Pick?) is a very scary color. It's very pigmented, but I don't feel it will work on my AA skin. I didn't bother to swatch the coordinating gloss (runway fave?). Some say they didn't like the fragrance that's a part of this collection, but sniffing it, I thought it was quite pleasant. I was surprised. I like spicey, oriental scents and that's what this was to me. I can tell you to use it lightly, though. It seems like it can get overpowering.
Sorry for the long post but let me just say that the awesome MA showed me the entire style black collection. In her drawer I could see the actual products for sale. She said they got very few of everything. The mineralize shadows are GORGEOUS, so all you ladies are going to have fun with that. I already had on my black urban decay lipstick in Oil Slick and that's what made her show me the collection. I tried on the lightest glimmer glass with the gold flecks in it and it was perfection on top of my lipstick! I can't wait for it. I also swatched the other two glimmer glasses and all the lippies. Hotness! I am sold on ALL the lippies now, where as before I thought I could skip one or two. The polishes are pretty also. They looked very nice on the MA's fingers. She mixed the two together. I guess they are a different formula from the norm. I hate mac polish, but I may give the purplish one a go.
The greasepaint stick turned me off, though. It's not as creamy or smudgy as I thought. I don't really do the smoky look, so I don't find it necessary. I'll stick to good old fashion shadows. The volcanic ash stuff freaked me out. No thanks. Ladies, I seriously cannot wait for style black. I will buy it the day it's released and I will go back the following weekend for backups. Ok, I'm done. LOL
