Aww that sux! I just got off the phone w my mom and she said she did go into a Duty Free Shop and she saw Dior, Chanel, etc but she has never used MAC so she didn't know quite she was looking for. She is going to try again on her way back in 6 wks... maybe some MAC Trip II will have made its way there by then!

Also, on Seattle-Tacoma Airport Shops there is more than one duty free shop in the Seattle airport... On her trip back maybe she can check each one of them out

I think I want both the Classic Check & Eye and the cool eyes... even though I have warm undertones

There is more than one shop so I wouldn't give up hope. I am still going to have people check out the Seattle Airport when they fly internationally.

This totally sucks for me. If I was actually able to convince my tight-wad husband to take me on a trip that INVOLVED a plane and not a car, there would be no way in hell I'd be able to get makeup. He would have a stroke.

As expected, my dreams of a Cool Eyes palette were shattered when bf's parents returned home from their trip empty-handed
cry.gif
. JFK apparently doesn't carry MAC (or at least the terminal they were at) - a very 'helpful' duty free clerk even managed to completely puzzle them by saying that MAC releases palettes only in December for their Holiday collection
rants.gif
. Needless to say, this led to a series of unfortunate events - the two of them asking about Trip palettes in the city & looking for possible random 'outlet' stores & in the meantime probably sticking pins in a voodoo doll of me for sending them out on such a wild-goose chase. As if that wasn't enough, they were determined to find the palettes at Frankfurt airport. Unfortunately, Terminal 1 (where they landed and later departed) does't have MAC, however, Terminal 2 apparently does...but they were not allowed to go there
angry.gif
. At that point, they were utterly fed up with three words: TRIP, MAC and PALETTE (& I can think of at least another word/name that could be added to the hate list).
Sorry for all the ranting and raving

venting completed - at least until I commence the second hunt for the elusive trip palettes in June.

I am always horrible with these kinds of cool colors with my complexion, I feel like it always looks like crap...

I believe it mostly depends on the colours & combinations that you feel comfortable wearing. I, for example, would use Springtime Skipper as a lid colou with the Cakeshop ss as a base & butternutty with sugarshot as a highlight & inner lid. To' upgrade' the look for the evening, I'd probably put some Black Ore in the outer V & crease & a black liner. A nice look imo could also be achieved by combining Springtime Skipper with the brightside/gallerygal MES.
I always imagined pairing Waternyph with Shale (on of my personal faves) in the crease and outer V & I'd probably use Pincurl to highlight and blend Shale out - still, I should point out that this combination is probably more suited for the cool-toned gals. For a crazy in-your-face look, I'd use inky & Aqualine liners, Waternymph as a wash & add just the tiniest bit of sparkle with girl groove.
Knight Divine is used for a basic universally flattering smokey eye (sth. light on the lid, kd in the crease, and a black colour for yout outer V & crease). You can also pair it with purples, silvers, browns (a la club)... you name it.
I love using dark blue colours (I believe Flashtrack is the one in the palette?) with Vellum (or Lark About or Frozen White pigments) & in order to avoid to harsh lines, cornflower or a similar pigment/es could be used on the outer part of the lid and for blending.
I have no doubt that at least one of these combinations will work for you - if not, pm me, I'm dying for this palette

From my travel experience (which shouldn't be taken as gospel) the larger duty-free shops in the international terminals (LHR, LAX and SFO) always had a good selection of Mac trip items, so it might be worth checking there. I'm wondering if the trip collections are more often found in the international terminals of the more heavier trafficked airports, as mentioned above. I've never seen any MAC in shops for local connecting flights.
As I said, not gospel, just my experience.

My mom also mentioned something about asking one of the ladies in the Duty Free Shop that you can only buy it if you are flying international, which she was not. Not sure if this is exactly how it works, but someone did say that to her.

I still have to wait 6 wks to find out if I will get one!

Yes, when I picked up my trip palette a couple of years ago, I had to show them my ticket to indicate that I was eligible for a duty-free purchase. You could also place orders in flight from the catalogs, but I like to see what I'm purchasing first hand. This is probably why people aren't finding them at all airport terminal stores, unless you're going overseas, it wouldn't be duty-free.

We had to show our boarding passes at every Duty Free shop.

Makes sense. My mom flew to Alaska, but she started out in the USA to begin with. I've been to a Duty Free store before when I went to Canada. I still hope she can find a way to get a palette or two

so one of my coworkers is flying to Boston Via Toronto next month so I told him to look for the cool palette for me. I'm hoping either one of the airports will have them.

I want those too! I can usually buy them myself when I travel during the summer but no trips this year as I'd be too pregnant to fly!

True. An international boarding pass has to be shown in order to purchase something at a duty free store. Unfortunately, flying international from a large terminal does not guarantee that you'll be able to buy MAC. Since I'm European, all my flights from/to the US were international, however, neither of the 2 airports that I've been to so far (JFK, Atlanta) carries MAC (well, at least to my knowledge & it was confirmed recently by Susanne and my bf's parents). Not to mention European airports - I saw MAC at 3 London airports and that's it. Supposedly there is one at CDG (Paris) & I'll see for myself once I'm there in June. I just don't understand why airport counters/stores aren't listed on mac sites - would it be really so hard to state the airport & the store MAC is in (and maybe a terminal) and solve the giant MAC duty free mystery once and for all

Like I said, I'll be flying to NY in June & I have a layover in Paris & if I manage to get my hands on the oh-so-gorgeous palettes I have no problem picking additional one for you. Still, due to April's airport fiasco, I'm not too optimistic

Thanks a lot! That'd be so nice of you!

Not sure though where and if there is a MAC at the CDG airport. I took off from there many times myself in the past and never saw a MAC counter.
th_dunno.gif

London has 1 or 2 but I didn't see one in Paris and I did look for it. LOL!
In the US, you can look for the names of the airport stores that carry MAC I believe. I did it once. They are called DFS. But it is different overseas.
