to me Miley is expression of "all ages" part of MAC slogan "all ages, all races all sexes" because in previous years we hadn't such a young testimonial with such a young fan base. Teens can buy a viva Glam (her lipglass is perfect ever for girls 12-13 years old) and discover why this line is called viva Glam. It's a powerful thing to me. In her recent Glamour UK interview about this topic she talked about the inspiration behind both products, I liked it a lot. I don't know if in USA there's space of this part of the Viva Glam collection but to me a Viva Glam is something with a huge potential. Because AIDS is a hot topic, and a huge problem.
Well said!

That's super sad but I think you're right. The only requirements should be that's its a good/brave person AND a style icon. Miley Cyrus is just a random kid with no message and she looks like an eleven year old boy with terrible terrible fashion. It's nice that's she's daring, but I just don't think that's enough. And maybe she'll grow up to be an icon of some kind, I'm not saying she isn't a good person, but she hasn't proven herself as anything special yet. I get that it's a marketing decision, but I always try to put my money where my mouth is and buy products I can get behind. Miley is just like any random model, she's just a person, not an idol. But yeah, you are almost definitely correct.
I get what you are saying, I liked the idea of Adele, Laverne Cox or Adam Lambert being the spokes person. I love their style & they are awesome other than Prince NO ONE does smokey eye or eyeliner like Adam, NO ONE. Its business like you said.

I don't agree with people that she has no message. I remember she won some award at some award show like video of the year or somethin and instead of accepting it she sent up a homeless youth she met to speak about homeless youth and how people can help. I respect her for that. She brought awareness to an important issue and an organization that can help people. Just because she might do drugs or dress a certain way doesn't discredit her (in my books anyway). I also don't think it's fair when people say she looks like a young boy. I think that's just mean. So she's thin, has short hair and doesn't have a big chest. So what? I don't think that makes her less feminine or boyish But hey to each their own.
I just think it's innapropriate to encourage young girls that it's okay to be THAT thin, I don't care how she dresses, I think everyone deserves that freedom of expression, and it's definitely time for the world to get over the fact that teenagers are sexual, whether it grosses adults out or not. As long as they have safe options it's none of our business.. And you're right that she has shown support for some things, e.g. the gay community and the president, so that's good, but at the same time she can't be compared to women who've fought for major causes for years and EVEN when it was unpopular. I also don't care if she does drugs, but I don't like that my middle schoolers have to watch her smoking and such. She's a kid, so her mistakes are hers alone and it's not fair to hold her to some higher standard, but she's also an idol to so many kids and she shows them that smoking is cool. Maybe that's why I want someone older and braver. I do agree with you it wasn't nice to say she looks like a boy, I take that back, I should have aimed my criticism directly at the weight issue, not the hair or the chest, that was wrong of me, super uncool. And a bad example for my kids if I say it around them... I feel bad about that. So I guess I agree in some ways and disagree in others, it's good that you spoke up though, that's how I grow.

LOVE those ideas!!! I want more men out there in sexy makeup in general too, particularly my husband... He looks sooooo good in eyeliner but he only wears it if I beg lol maybe he just needs more guys to do it first. And Adele is so glamorous, her makeup is always perfect, best cat-eye ever done

I think a lot of men can pull of eyeliner it's a shame that more Dont try it. I agree Adele always has great makeup, simple and classic. I remember there was some Mac collection years ago (I wasn't into Mac at the time so I don't know which collection) but I thought the woman in the promo images looked like Adele and then I realized it wasn't, since then I always thought she'd be a great choice to do something with Mac.

Yeah we are all allowed to agree with eachother and agree to disagree on other things haha. I do think Laverne Cox is fabulous as well and would be great as a viva glam spokeswoman

but Viva Glam is not just make up.
Viva Glam without the charity part of it is meaningless, it's just another collection.

Like you, I have to beg, and he won't wear it around in public, but I wish he would. He has the features to pull it off. I really hope eyeliner on men becomes mainstream one day.
