Okay...............I'm trying to think of the best way to explain the certifications! Well, MAC has a bunch of skills that employees get trained in and then certified for over time. It could take months to years to get this done, I guess on the availability of the Trainers. The Senior Trainers come and observe you and mark you (they have a detailed checklist and comment area) on these different skills. Each employee starts with a basic skill, like a one-feature demo, then works their way up.
Once you finish the first four basic skills, 'application' being the last one, you are finished with the first skills set. Basically, the certification is like having it 'on paper' that you have these skills. Also, MAC gives you a piece of jewelry that signifies that you have completed this first level.
Next are the more advanced skills, like Fashion Show, Bridal, TV/Film, Workshops...etc. I hope that explains it a little!
