I hope this is the best place to post this, i wasn't a 100% sure which section it should be in.

I was wondering what everyone would recommend for the most comfortable contact lenses? right now I've worn colorvue's big eyes quarterly lenses, i can wear them all day but they bother me and i tend to rub my eyes when i wear them which is not good for my makeup at all. lol. Ive heard some people say that clear lenses are more comfortable then colored. but ya any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!

I would think that you will have better luck with clear contacts instead of colored. I don't really know what to tell you about what would be more comfortable for your eyes though because it will be based on your personal eye shape and how the contacts fit on them. I know that I wore freshlook contacts for years, and then when I had went to a new optomatrist, they suggested a better contact for my eyes, as those ones wern't really doing anything good for my eyes. They switched me to Focus contacts and automatically everything was better. I would maybe look at getting a second opinion from an optomatrist to see what they feel would be the best fit for your eyes. They may even give you a couple different samples of different contacts to take home and try out for a few weeks. HTH.

that's true ^
Clear is more comfortable than colored, it all depends on the person.
I still wear color though.
The brand I use are freshlook and IMO they're comfortable. I could sleep in them for 1-2 hours with no problems.

ya i know they should be specific to your eyes, but i went to the optomistrist for my first contacts, and i could'nt even wear them for 5 hours, and i tried to for a LONG TIME!! i gave up eventually, then i bought these different contacts online for $30 and they felt waaaay better, but still not good enough. so now i dont really want to go to the optomitrist again cause i wasted alot of money there the last time.

I wear the focus night and day's and I LOVE THEM! I can wear them for one month straight, as in sleep in them and all, for a whole month! They are mad to be worn for that period and are loads more comfy than the daily disposables. Give them a shot. Your optometrist should be able to give you samples...

Yeah, contacts = $$$ esp colored contacts. on top of that, i have to get the toric lenses due to astigmatism. For the first week when I started wearing contacts, it wasn't really comfortable: it would get dry, blurry, etc. I guess that's normal because you're not used to it. I got used to wearing them after a week or so. It also depends on your solution. I used opti-free and today, when I wear my lenses, it doesn't feel like I have my contacts in. If you get irritated, try using the contact lenses drops, it'll help from time to time. HTH.

I wear Acuvue dailys, I find dailys more comfortable than monthly/fortnightly ones. Focus was fine but I found them much more difficult to take off!

I have Freshlook Colorblends, Focus Monthly, and Acuvue Oasis.

The Acuvue Oasis are the most "comfortable" but I don't have issues with any of them.

To be honest, I don't feel any of them when they're in. It is only when it becomes time to toss the current pair that they become less comfortable.

You can also try using natural tears throughout the day (ones approved for contacts and, according to my cornea specialist, avoid visine). Also, you may not want to use tears if your makeup runs.

Quarterly seems like a really long time for contacts to be worn today. Do you find that they feel better when they are new? If so, then it is very likely that by the end, they are just so dirty from everyday use that become more drying and irritating. Try something with a shorter life and changing them more often.

Most contact fittings at your eye doctors should include trying out several brands (the circumference and dome-size is different by brand and often even style), so take advantage of that.

I always get fitted for 2-3 brands and have them write prescriptions for all three, so that I can order whichever I choose.

In my state, these prescriptions are only good for one year, while glasses prescriptions are good for 2.

The only ones I can even stand to wear are Acuvue Oasys and as of this spring, they're now available in toric (astigmatism correcting) prescriptions too. Best toric lens I've ever tried!

I totally agree! Acuve feels so nice on my eyes and they never get dry or bothersome by the end of the day.

When I first started wearing contacts at 16, I wore Freshlook contacts, but not the colored kind, they were clear. They were pretty uncomfortable, even though they were your regular 'ol soft, weekly lenses. They were having a really good special on colored lenses, so I went off and ordered Freshlook's colored lenses in green, blue and brown. They also had these really cool ones that slightly changed the color of my eye, mostly my outer ring. Anyway, I wore colored contacts for a long time and they were hell on my eyes. I need contacts so I can see without my glasses, but they really dryed my eyes out.

I found out about 2 years ago that I have astigmatism so I started wearing Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism. That's all I have worn since then and they are really comfortable. My eye DR said they are a bit heavier than the traditional soft contact lens, but I honestly can't feel that. They are definitely not flimsy like some lenses I've tried. I just went to the eye DR for my annual exam a couple of days ago and while my right eye stayed the same, my left eye increased by a quarter, that always happens though. I have to wear 2 different prescriptions since my right and left eyes differ.
I always carry refreshing drops with me and those definitely help throughout the day if my eyes get dry, because I'm constantly staring at a computer screen.

I also wear the Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism and love them. Since they correct for my astigmatism, they are more expensive than the normal Acuvues I used to wear, but I see better and they are super comfortable.

I wish you luck in finding the right lens for you. ;-)
