Nails for prom type events - opinions?

Hey everyone! This is more of a personal opinion type inquiry... My little sister's going to prom and I'm going to do her nails for her, but now I'm starting to get a little puzzled by what colors I should offer her to pick from. Would you prefer to match your nail polish to your dress color, or do a contrasting color that goes with it? So, to be specific, her dress is a dark navy blue. Would you do blue nails? Or maybe something like silver, which is the color of her shoes?

Opinions, thoughts? Anything would help, I just want to hear some input! Thanks a bunch

my instant reaction was to use a dark navy blue polish and then use the new opi silver crackle over the top! that would look really cool. or if that isn;t fancy enough then i could just go with silver polish.

in the uk we didn't really have proms when i was at school - but for our leavers party i wore a pale blue dress and i wore a light blue glittery polish on my nails. i couldn't tell you what it was called though!
