Need Some Tech Advice from Bloggers

I opened up a blog before the '09 holidays but lo & behold some extreme life events happened placing it on hold. I am in the process of going back to it but I feel I need time to get the tech part down a bit more so I can be better organized which will in turn (hopefully) let me focus on just the writing part. I am using blogspot.

I would love to get some advice from some more experienced people out there as i am a techy moron (putting it lightly) lol. So please when posting advice, think user friendly or tech stuff for total dummies.

What program do you suggest for placing photos on my blog?

I'd also love something where i can make simple collages on. Do any programs provide you w/ a sort of template you can create so you can just insert/switch photos etc? I think it'd be nice so i don't have to constantly be doing everything from scratch ya know, w/ every post i do.

What organization tips do you have to keep things "flowing"?

I am interesting in changing my background but have no clue how to do it. I have tried looking at tutorials etc but can't seem to get it done. Does anyone know a place that would do it for me? Something not too crazy expensive.

Where do you have your blog hosted? Blogger, Wordpress or somewhre else?
Shabby Blogs - Home - Free blogger templates and shabby chic scrapbooking resources - Shabby style! has some fun, free backgrounds (that come with instructions for Blogger users), but I have no idea if that is your style.

I use imageshack for picture hosting. But I don't have a huge amount of traffic, so I haven't really looked into what the best options are, once the free stuff isn't enough.
