Needing a new Direction

I am a licensed Estetician and have been working at a resort spa for 11 years. Our resort is in a huge garden so I have been doing special occasion and bridale make-up the whole time. I am really wanting to get some experience with more challenging looks. I also am tired of the inconsistant pay and no benefits. I have thought about applying at MAC and have even applyed but they say I don't have the right qualifications. I applyed on line should I take in my portfolio? What is the most stable way to make money as a pro MUA and get benefits? How do I land a job at a retail counter? Thanks all advise welcome!

MAC cares more about your retail experience rather than makeup skills. That's probably what they mean when they say you aren't qualified. Working at a counter is great because you have access to so much makeup, but personally... I'd hate it. You're a slave to meeting sales goals. Build a website, make some business cards... and market yourself darling!
