Palettes vs Pots: Round 1 *Ding*Ding*

Just wondering who preferes palates or pots and why, other than the fact the pans are less expensive. Me personally, I prefer pots. I don't care that they take up more space... I guess I just like having each shadow in it's own little container with it's own lid. I think the e/s "dust" all over the palates in different colors would freak me out... maybe I'm just OCD like that

when you talk of palettes, do you mean the palettes that have 6 rectangular colors in it, right? Not the 4 and 15 palettes?

If that's so, I also prefer quads and eyeshadows over palettes. Yes palettes are pretty to look at, but I just like having everything uniform, thus having little round shadows.

No, I'm talking about the 4 and 15 palates, not the pre-made stuff. Like buying pans and using the palates rather that buying pots, or if you do buy pots and de-pot them.

well.... for a long time I prefered having my eyeshadow in their own pots. However, after having bought a couple empty quads and filling them, I quickly bought more, along with a 15 palette, and now I cannot wait to go get another 15 palette!

I find it so much easier- they take up A LOT less room, and I can switch out colors into my quads for easy travel. I'm also using a wider variety of my colors now that I don't need to open each pot.

I haven't depotted my lure shadows yet ( i love the aqua packaging) and a few le eyeshadows... but I did depot my barbie shadows into a quad, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

i prefer palettes, i can choose e/s combos - i have Greens & Blues palette, Pinks & Purples palette, Dark and Neutrals palettes.

I have a 4 pan palette too and its so much easier to carry with me if i go away for the night as such. I only keep e/s in pots if theyre special packaging

I like pots a lot more but they take up too much space, that's the only reason that I depot my eyeshadows. :-(

i usually buy and prefere pro-pans as they aren't as fragile as depots ,but some colours are le so i usually depot them.
i have al my shadows color coordinated ( in 15 pan) and several quads that i take around. also it's perfect because let's say you go on a three day trip ,just take three quads for three different looks. i also have one quad on top of my table with my fave highlighters that i use most, so when i do my make up i just pull the 15 palettes with the main colors (which i labeled on the outside- to save time) from a drawer

for blushes i have palettes and kept some of the pots for travel. since obviously i won't need eight blushes on a three day stay

yah i don't like that & i usually wipe all my palettes (when i was my brushes) once a week. but since all the colors are in the same color family it's not really so bad

i like palettes better. they take up a lot less space & are more organized. & like a few others said, it's easy to switch 4 colours out into a quad for travelling.

I prefer palettes because
1. I travel a lot. I'd rather have a 15 pan palette and notice it be gone than to leave a single eyeshadow in a hotel bathroom or at a friend/relatives house.
2. I'm a freelance artist and it's easier for me to open up 5 palettes and work off of them than to sort through 75 individual shadows. I can also carry around 5 flat palettes together than try to cram 75 shadow pots into my case.
3. It's cheaper, you save approximately 40 dollars buy purchasing 15 shadow pans and a palette than 15 individual shadow pots.
4. I can arrange colors in a more organized manner, which helps me get color placement ideas
5. I always know where every single shadow is; the purples are in palette number 3, so if I can't find Leisuretime, that's where it'll be.
6. I can depot and get freebies!

Since the only I have a place to keep my shadows is the bathroom vanity for now, I prefer 15-Pan Palettes. A little dust won't hurt me, LOL. Once I get an armoire or something, I won't be so quick to depot everything. But, the 1000mL beaker has gotsta go!!!

ITA with every one of your points! Pans are definitely for me. (Even though the pots are kinda cute

I'm in the minority because I love pots - but I'm fortunate in that my dressing table has a big flat draw that I can have my 50 shadows in all staring up and looking at me while i'm doing my makeup in front of my mirror.

I'm petrified of dropping a 15 pan if I had one, and I only ever travel with about 4 shadows anyway (i believe in packing light!) and 4 pots don't take up much more room than a quad.

I've never tried pilates. But I love palettes b/c they save space and not to mention the whole "buy 6, get 1 free" deal. Not to mention - they're cheap!

They do require care when travelling. Then all your dust goes everywhere and one or more shadows can break. But when that happens, you break out the time and some iso alcohol to fix. Anyways, tiny bubble wrap and squishy styrofoam is cheap to put inside.

I prefer palettes. They take up less space and at one glance, I can choose what colour I want to wear.

Once I started with the palettes - I could not go back. I definitely use more of my collection now that I can see all the colors. When I open the pink palette, I can see that I haven't touched a certain color and try to rotate and open my options.

i m also in the minority... i prefer pots. I feel my e/s looks nicer in their individual pots..so i don't depot.

and besides they don't sell pan e/s and the palettes in my country. so i don't depot.

Palettes all the way! I secretly love reorganizing my 15 pan pallettes when I have free time!
