Porcelain Beauties: Self-Tanner

I'm not sure if this is the right place for my post, and also I searched "self tanner" and didn't find much of what I was looking for.

So for the pale girls out there, I get a little self conscious in the winter because I just get really white, and contrasted with my dark brown hair I look sick. Are there any self-tanners you recommend? What is the best one you've used (no streaks, no creepy orange color)? I've heard that Victoria's Secret makes a really good one in their Bare Bronze collection (not sure which it is)...

but what do you ladies think?

If you're afraid of looking sickly during the winter because of your paleness (I know that feeling), I would recommend you warm up your skin on your face by using a really beautiful blush.

Self-tanners tend to look really weird and fake on us super fair girls, they look better if we already have a bit of a base colour to start with. I would skip the tanner all together and just use a nice blush, and maybe a gentle sweep of some bronzer on your face in those wintery months.

Hi,

My favourite self-tanner is "Clarins : Liquid bronze self tanning for face and décolleté".
I have a fair skin, and tried a lot of self-tanners...
For me, this one is the best!
For a natural Look I apply it with a cotton pad 3 days in a row.

I always feel like my legs are too pale at the start of summer, so I use Jergens Natural Glow until I get some color. I believe they have one for faces now that you could try. It's buildable and in lotion form, so it doesn't look streaky and is really hard to mess up.

Hi! I'm about NC15 in the winter. I had been using Shiseido self-tanner/bronzer for face until recently. I didn't get much color payoff and it really only lasted 1 day. I just switched to Origins Faux Glow and I love it. If I apply it every night, it builds really nicely and I've never experienced streaking or an orange hue. I can then go 4-5 days without the color fading! The only complaint about the product is that it has a metallic smell...but coupled with other products I use, I don't notice it much. HTH!

Just from my own experiences trying almost every new tanner on the market, I have to agree with MissChievous. I am so pale that they all turn me into a pumpkin, even the ones that are supposed to give a subtle color change.
Blush and lipstick are what I depend on now.

SELF-TANNER? Ooooh, the blasphemy!!!! Hahahaha...Come on, white is beautiful! Embrace your paleness and be original, not to mention healthier than all those ladies who stretch on the sun and end up looking like a steak...

I have the same concerns...I have dark brown hair and combined with my pastey white skin I feel like I look so dull and sickly in the winter time! Im way too lazy to keep up with sunless tanners but I used Napoleon Perdis Summer Lovers for a while and it was fantastic. You can get it from the Sephora website I believe. I agree with the above poster who mentioned finding a good blush. I never used to wear blush, but finally gave it a try and WOW! The combination of NARS Laguna bronzer + NARS Orgasm Blush warms up my winter complexion sooo much- it gives a very pretty, glowing look! Hope that helps.
