Pornography wrong or right?

So im bringing up this subject beacuse I use to be a model a little while ago and I made friends with this great very respectable photographer who does pin-up style photographs and has worked for playboy and alot of other magazines. Ive always debated wether its wrong or right to do this style of photography.

My family is sort of split on this my mother being a devought christian and my father being a layed back hippie. On one side my father encouraged me to use my body to get to were I want as long as im comfterable and having fun. On the other hand my mother just about dies when ever I mention it. haha although she still trys to support me.

I have one friend who is a porn star although I love her I dont exactly find what she does right I mean its preety much having sex for money and I find it disgusting how men treat her seriously sometimes I just want to slap them. Once we were at a tattoo parlor and the tattoo artist asked her if she was a porn star and she said yes. Then he said o if you give me a blow job ill tattoo you for free... she was very polite and said no thanks but I seriously would have slapped him soo hard. grrrr

so anyways...

What are your thoughts on nude photography? Does it make it better if its tastefull?
Do you think people would respect me less as a pin up model?

I think that in many cases, nude models are viewed as objects rather than people. It dehumanizes them in a way. Put it this way. If you have a little sister or a daughter, is it a career you would encourage her to pursue? Many people would say no. I've read some essays by former porn workers (both print and film), and it's been a lot of stories about drug use, feeling used by men, feeling empty and hopeless.

I'm coming at this from a non-religious standpoint. I want to keep my beliefs about spirituality out of it. I just think that women have worked so hard for so long to overcome being seen as nothing but sex objects, and that it really isn't something to be encouraged.

I don't think it's wrong, as long as nobody is being forced to do something they don't want to do.

Nude photography, depending on the kind, isn't pornography. It can be, but it isn't necessarily. It's not a photograph, but I think Alanis Morrisette nude in the "Thank U" video, and that was certainly not pornographic. As far as porn goes, I'm not against it, nor am I against pornography inherently.

HOWEVER, I am against many of the happenings within the porn industry. Besides the reasons listed in the above post, I think it's a difficult career to get out of and start another one when you're too old for it. It really isn't practical, IMO. From a complete career standpoint, what if you make Playboy and your next job interviewer had seen you in it?

Firstly I see Playboy model and porn star is two different things, yes their both considered to be in the pornography industry but I'm sure you all have different views of both. I would never do either and would certainly murder my daughter (that I don't have
winks.gif
) if she ever thought of doing either. I find it to be a disgusting industry and like MissMarley said you see drugs, depression, "used abd abused" feelings and shit like that. Perfect example, watch Jenna Jameson's E! True Hollywood Story.

I think the men and women who get into the pornography industry are just helpless to become stars. Sorry but to me Jenna Jameson isn't a star or a celebrity, she's a disgusting whore. And yes, in my opinion, the men in the industry are disgusting whores too.

Nude models on the other hand, I would never condon or encourage it but I don't see it as badly. Yes I think girls who pose in Playboy are desperatly trying to be stars, but at least they're not having sex on video for the world to see. I've honestly never seen a Playboy, not because I'm grossed out just because I've never come across one hehe. I don't really know what their pictorials are like except for stuff I've seen on TV when a celebrity poses and they block out all their goodies to show the TV friendly picture. But plain and simple, you're still naked for the world to see.

My body is not for sale and I don't need random people paying to see me naked. I'm confident enough with myself, I don't need someone to look at me naked to determine if I'm attractive or not. I just truly feel like everyone in that industry has major issues. Everytime you hear one of their stories there is something deeper to why they are doing what they're doing. They have been abused, molested, abandonded, f-ed up on drugs and all that good stuff.

Interesting topic...

I dont know of there is a right or wrong answer... I think it's one of those choice things. As in, you may or may not condone it, but it's not really for you to decide if it's right or wrong for someone to do it.

Regardless it's something that will never go away.

Who is more moral? The model, or the viewer?

Why is it ok for men to view porn. But not moral for women to pose for it?

This is my huge pet peeve with the world at large. And women are just as guilty as men of contributing to the line of thinking that all the problems with sex and etc are always the womans fault.

Until we get off each others backs, how are we going to get the men off ours?

Hmmmm

Honestly, I think from a standpoint that if its both consentiual (yeah i mispelled that) then pornography etc is OK because it's not violating anyones free speech etc.

However, that being said-I do think that in some photos and porn there is a tendency to degrade women. I mean when I think of a porn star-I'll be very honest I think of a dumb ass. I think of Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson stupid. Though I am sure they are very smart etc, I just can't help but think that.

I don't know why-but everytime I see someone on porn etc I just think they are stupid. Call me biased whatever you want but I just feel it objectifies women.

as long as everyone involved agrees with/to it, i don't see why it's such a big issue. live and let live.

Thats because much of it is done in a way that does objectify women (assuming it's str8 porn, obviously men are objectified as well in gay porn), too de-humanize them. It's typically done from a male point of view, to satisfy male fantasies.

Is a love scene in a Romance movie porn? Just because the couple involved are naked and "making love" on camera? How about a married couple who sets up a video camera in their bedroom and records themselves? Did they just make a porn? They were both naked and having sex on film...

Lets take it a step farther...

Lets assume that couple who is just doing whatever it is that "floats their boat" is into some kinky stuff (thats why they film it). And they like to upload it to U-Tube
rofl.gif
! Are they making porn? Or just making love on camera?

thats one thing that would scare me but i doubt they would say anything anyways beacuse it could come off wrong since it is an interview hahaha

i definitly think making love and having sex are different things and it comes off different but if you post it online then i think its porn beacuse your having sex on camera. Like the pamela anderson and tommy lee sex tape its porn even though their making love.

and shimmer what is pterydactyl porn if you dont mine me asking?
