Primer and Foundation Compatibility

Hey there- looking for info about which primers work with which foundations. I’ve heard that whether the product has silicone, oil or water based, plus other ingredients and what not will make formulas not work together but my makeup knowledge is minimal; definitely don’t know ingredients and what they do and what to avoid/mix.Obviously looking for nice compatibility (staying power, smooth foundation application and NO pilling! Ugh...lol) Thanks for your time & advice!

Generally speaking, you want to use water/silicone-based primers with water/silicone-based foundations, and oil-based primers with oil-based foundations.

Sometimes when a company launches a foundation, they'll also launch a primer (or two) to go with it.
