In the store I work at, the policy is so dumb, you can steal anything you want any get away with it. The only way you'd ever get stopped is if the sensor went off when you leave the store. But the thing is, the sensor is a piece of cake o take off(one time I bought a sweater and my coworker forgot to take the sensor off, I didn't feel like bringing it back so i pulled on it and it just fell apart!) So anyway, after this one lady comes out of the fitting room, I saw sensors all over the floor, I told my manager, and she said that we can't do anything about it. Lady got free stuff and no one cared. Good for her I guess.

Funny stories everyone!

I work at a store where we pretty much can't do anything about stealing... I remember one day we had a guy just carry out a huge stack of clothes, and no one could do anything. We also have women steal with their childern, like these women who ran out our store with the kid in the stroller full of stuff. Thats whats really sad.

The only time something can be done about our shoplifters is when we have a lost prevention guy on duty (which is like 2 times a month) and from what I heard, the shoplifter is pretty much escorted from the store and that it...

my grandpa was getting ready to sell his old store so he was painting the walls and what not one day, (keep in mind the place is like completly EMPTY)he was there by himself. anyways some guy knocked on the door and asked if he could use the washroom, so like a nice guy my grandpa said sure go ahead. Then when the guy left my grandpa seen he stole the toilet paper and the little roll thing it sits on off the wall. im not even joking.

like why in the world would you feel the need to steal that? clepto much.

Hahah I work at a purse/luggage/wallet ect store called Access, and we sell baby phat, rocawear and guess type purses... We had this creepy skinny tall white guy come in, grab three rocawear purses and then bolt it out of the store even tho we were watching him do it... We called security but I doubt they actually caught him. It sucks because we don't have alarms for when someone steals, even though we sell expensive items.

One of my friends claims she steals MAC eyeshadows from the counter all the time, but I have no idea how she can pulls it off. Is it really that easy to steal MAC eyeshadows from the counter?

I worked at a grocery store before, and I am apalled by the amount of parents who use strollers to steal stuff! It's rediculous!

No ones posted in here for a while but I've got a couple of funny ones I need to add.

Lately it's been a case of "how big of an item can you steal" don't know if it's cause of the credit crunch or not.

A few weeks ago I saw a bloke being dragged into the loss prevention office cause he had stolen an hoover, a big gigantic Dyson hoover.
Now he was either gonna re-sell it or he had a very dirty house, why would you even think you would get away with something like that it's not exactly subtle is it?

On a different occasion a guy tried and failed to steal a food processor, again how and why?

I've also had people try and steal the chairs on my own concession, cause were right next to an entrance, they just casually push them outside thinking you won't notice.

ugh! sunday we were short staffed and crazy busy and in the middle of the mayhem a customer came up and said " hey some girls just stole one of those palletes" she pointed a a display we have of filled 15 pan palettes, we had 4 and sure enough there was one missing. she told me they were teen girls with a victoria secret bag and they just walked in grabbed it (it was displayed on a "cube" right by the entrance) and ran off toward the center of the mall. i was so pissed but i cant do anything, we arent allowed to follow them or even say anything to them, especially if we dont see it happen. what pisses me off even more is i had to write up an incident report about what happened, grrrrrr i wish i had seen them!

back in the day i worked in a restaunt and we chased a couple of dine and dashers! it was crazy!! these girls dipped on my friend and she took off after them, along with a busser and of all people the regional manger who was visting. they ran across a busy highway and around a best buy, the 3 girls split one headed toward the mall and the busser followed her while my friend and the manager ran to the back side of best buy. the car audio guys were installing some equipment in a jeep and saw them running they asked if they needed help and julie said "follow those girls" they all jumped in the jeep and sped around the stores parking lot, cutting the two girls off behind another store, one girl through her hands on the hood of the jeep and said all out of breath "i aint gonna run no mo". meanwhile our busser is running through jcpennys now with the security guards in hot pursuit of the last girl, which they get. back the restaraunt the cops had been called and the girls were arrested and we all had a hell of a story to share!!

a lot of people are saying about parents having their kids assist them in their thieving and i have a funny story about me as a kid...

i don't remember this at all... i was about 2-3 years old in a pushchair, and my mum went into specsavers (opticians here in the uk) and was looking at frames, and it'd been raining so she had the hood over me in the pushchair, and she finished looking and went out, and the next thing i was waving this pair of frames hahahahaha. apparently i'd just picked them up off shelf and she didn't realise. my mum said she didn't know what to do, but they were a really nice expensive pair of frames so she had the lens' made and used them! hahaha! i know i shouldn't laugh, but it is quite funny. apparently i also stole a book too.
i'm not like this in adult life before you think that!

That's so cute.
When my cousin was a baby, my mom and I took her in her stroller to the local pharmacy and when we walked out she started pulling candy bars from her stroller and motioning for us to open them for her. It happened maybe once or twice, but it was hilarious.
My aunt never let her have chocolate, so maybe that's why she felt the need to steal them.

My daughter was 2 at the time we went to a clothing store in the mall. She saw a pretty blue bracelet with butterflies on it that she wanted but I told her no. After I was done trying on clothes, I checked her hands to make sure she had not grabbed anything to play with and they were empty so we left with the employee saying bye. After passing a few stores, I noticed she was walking funny. She had a bangle type bracelet on her leg! We walked quickly back to the store and I explained to the employee that my daughter stuck it on her leg without my knowledge. What a laugh as neither of us had noticed at all but I did make sure my daughter know that it was wrong to take something that did not belong to her.

We didn't do that at my store either. But people would yell at us anyway hoping it would change something. That was in part because of the pricing (we had to give them the lowest selling price within a given time frame) and also because we gave them in store gift cards (most people wanted cash or the funds to go directly to a credit card).
