What are you looking for in a mascara? I find that reviewing mascara based upon application on others is difficult, because each person applies the product differantly, and each person's lashes are so differant that mascara doesn't appear the same on each person wearing the same mascara.
There are a few FOTDs that I've posted where I'm wearing the shu basic, and you can see my un-mascara'd lashes in the tutorial I recently posted.

i am after length and curl ( that holds throughout the day) with volume.
i find a pic with someone wearing the she mascara, and thought wow! i have heard really good things about shu

The Shu mascara's are NOT spectacular in any way. Better to spend your $$ elsewhere (this is coming from a Shu whore)

I've also curled my lashes with Shu eyelash curler, Volume precise is great for a natural resultat but maybe too expensive...
