Hi! I hope you girls and specially a MA could answer me.

I'm going to buy a few matte or square matte colors to achieve a smokey eye.

I have blue-green eyes. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking about blackberry and copperplate... what do you think?

Thanks.

Sorry about my english, but I'm from Spain.

Hm... that's really a question of what you want your smoky eyes to look like. If you want natural, I would suggest maybe a medium brown for your skintone, if you want them to look dramatic then I would say something darker or even black.

if you're just looking to buy matte or matte2, i'd suggest:

embark (M)
carbon (M)
handwritten(M2)
typographic (M2)
copperplate (M2)

additional colors to wear with these in different finishes:

silver ring
knight divine
print
patina
vex
brun
mulch
smut

these are all perm colors.

Could you be so kind to tell me how exactly to use them? I've a bit of problem to achieve the smokey eye look.

sho thang!

there are different ways to wear colors on your eye. here are a couple. if you want a softer smokey, use a light and dark grey/brown. if you want it more intense, use a medium and dark grey/brown. they keys to acheiving a smokey look is to smudge both top and bottom liner.

for all of these, apply your base (paint, shadestick, paintpot) from lashline to crease. then you wanna apply your lightest color (brow highlight) from crease to brow. and finally apply black (for grey) or dk. brown (for brown) liner to top lashline (smudged) and waterline. always have bottom lash line smudged. curl lashes and apply mascara.

next:
1. divide your lid in half. apply the lightest or medium grey/brown on inner half of lid & crease. then apply the darkest grey/brown to outer half of lid & crease and along bottom lashline.

2. do the same as above, but divide lid into thirds, with lightest grey/brown on inner third & crease, medium drey/brown on middle third & crease, and darkest grey/brown on outer third & crease and lower lashline.

3. apply lightest or medium grey/brown on entire lid & crease. apply darkest grey/brown on outer corner and into outer half of crease (layered over the first color) and lower lashline. or you could take the crease color all the way in.

4. this is the simplest way to do a smokey eye.

apply the darkest grey/brown to entire lid & crease and lower lashline. that's it! simple, fast, and only one color!

hopefully that helps give you some different ideas on how to do a smokey eye.
