What is the 'tape method'?

I saw this mentioned in a few posts but ran a search and c ouldn't find any specific mention of how to do it...if anyone could tell me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Above is an example, you do a whole eye while having a piece of tape to make a winged eyeshadow application look.

I used this in my FOTD today. Basically you put a piece of tape connecting the corner of your outer eye to the end of you eyebrow, do your makeup as usual, take off the tape and you're left with a very clean, defined edge. You can blend out if you like but I think the defined look can look very nice if that's what you're going for.
