Where does bakuchiol come from?

I'm using a product with it now!

The one I'm using is from a brand called The Inkey List (a budget skincare brand in a similar vein to The Ordinary). It's also in products by Herbivore, Ole Henriksen (also tried one of those products — the night cream), and Indeed Labs, to name a few. All of those products have bakuchiol at different parts of their ingredient lists.

https://www.sephora.com/product/bakuchiol-P447778 (this is what I'm using now; bakuchiol is the seventh ingredient)

https://www.sephora.com/product/bakuchiol-retinol-alternative-soothing-serum-P446643 (fourth ingredient; definitely want to try this eventually)

https://www.sephora.com/product/goodnight-glow-retin-alt-sleeping-creme-P434546 (I've also tried this; bakuchiol is somewhere in the high-middle portion of the ingredients)

https://www.sephora.com/product/glow-cycle-retin-alt-power-serum-P434545 (ninth ingredient)

https://www.ulta.com/bakuchiol-reface-pads?productId=pimprod2006508 (fourth ingredient; also want to try this)

https://www.sephora.com/product/squalane-phyto-retinol-serum-P429028 (fifth ingredient)

It's definitely gentler than retinols I've used.
